Fire breaks out in thousands of square meter wood workshop, Police rescue trapped victims

By noon on October 11, the fire at Phong Thuy Company Limited (Ong Dong Hamlet, Tan Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) was completely extinguished. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police Department coordinated with relevant units to count the damage and investigate the cause of the fire.

Earlier in the morning of the same day, a fire broke out in the company's wood workshop area where many raw materials, wood shavings, sawdust and finished and semi-finished products were stored. Due to the flammable materials, the fire spread very quickly and engulfed the entire workshop and outdoor wood storage areas of thousands of square meters.

The on-site fire fighting teams, despite using water hoses and mini fire extinguishers, were unable to control the fire. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, dispatched many vehicles and officers to the scene to put out the fire.

The wood workshop area is located in an unfinished and narrow traffic area, making it difficult to carry out fire fighting. The workshop area has been suspended so there is no fire protection system on site.

While fighting the fire, the working groups discovered a victim trapped inside, so they brought him out and took him to the hospital for emergency treatment. The working groups deployed water cannons in many directions, containing the fire from spreading.

About 3,000 square meters of factory and raw materials burned and collapsed.

Water sources around the factory were used to fight the fire. After many hours of urgent work, the fire was extinguished. Fire trucks were still on duty at the scene to put out the remaining flames.

According to initial statistics, about 3,000 square meters of factory and surrounding areas were burned down and collapsed. Many machines and equipment were severely damaged. The cause of the fire is being investigated by relevant units.
