The rate of pregnant women screened for four common congenital diseases and defects is estimated at 79% (an increase of 18.6%); the rate of newborns screened for five common congenital diseases and defects is estimated at 82%, an increase of 5%.

Notably, in the first 6 months of 2024, the rate of male and female couples receiving pre-marital counseling and health check-ups reached 63%, an increase of 18% over the same period last year. The number of new people applying contraceptive methods was nearly 417,000 people (reaching 103.2% of the 2024 plan).
In 2023, Hanoi is one of five provinces and centrally-run cities assigned the target of increasing by at least 15% each year the rate of male and female couples receiving pre-marital health consultation and examination.

The industry has built and deployed a pilot model of pre-marital health consultation and examination in Bac Tu Liem district to detect and prevent the risk of giving birth to children with congenital diseases and disabilities, and early prevention of genetic diseases, contributing to ensuring sustainable marriages and gradually improving the quality of the capital's population./.
