On the afternoon of June 19, in Hanoi , the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission held a meeting with outstanding journalists to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
Member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia chaired the meeting.
Attending were leaders of central agencies, representatives of press agencies, and outstanding journalists representing the press community nationwide.
At the meeting, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the Vietnamese revolutionary press, founded by President Ho Chi Minh , has gone through a 100-year journey accompanying the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. The press has always been a vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front, making an important contribution to the cause of protecting and developing the country.
During the two resistance wars, “the press was the voice of the front and the rear,” more than 500 journalists sacrificed their lives for the noble ideal, their blood mingled with the motherland, with the flow of national history. That dedication and sacrifice will forever be the shining symbol of the revolutionary journalist.
Entering the period of Innovation and international integration, the press continues to affirm its pioneering role in propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; reflecting the people's thoughts and aspirations; spreading examples of good people, good deeds, good models, and creative ways of doing things in social life.
The press has become a force accompanying the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new stage of development.
Stating that 100 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh used the press to ignite the revolution, according to Head of the Committee Nguyen Trong Nghia, today, the press must continue its mission of building social trust, fanning the desire for prosperity, and revolutionary press must have enough courage to lead ideology, orient public opinion, and maintain the foundation.
“It is not only a professional requirement, but also an order of the times,” the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission requested.
Emphasizing the role and mission of the press in the new development stage of the country, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that revolutionary journalists need to continue to thoroughly understand the role, function and task of the press in the ideological and cultural work of the Party.
The press not only reflects life but also guides public opinion, encourages action, creates unity of thought and consensus in society.
The press needs to maintain its principles and purposes, ensuring revolutionary, scientific, humanistic and contemporary qualities in each press product.
The press must also be proactive, positive and creative in promoting the country's important political tasks. In particular, the effective implementation of the four major Resolutions of the Politburo on science and technology, digital transformation, private economic development, perfecting legal institutions and international integration. These are important pillars contributing to realizing the country's development aspirations by 2045.

In this development process as well as in the face of fierce competition from social networks and multi-platform media, the Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department requires revolutionary press to strongly innovate both content and form of expression. Each journalist needs to constantly study, improve professional qualifications, political will and professional ethics. It is necessary to build a team of journalists who are "lean but elite," have solid expertise, are rich in courage, maintain ethics, uphold the spirit of humanity, protect justice and reason.
The press needs to continue to proactively and creatively implement information and propaganda work on the country's important political, economic, social, defense, security, etc. tasks. Propaganda content must both ensure comprehensive requirements and have a focus and key points.
At the same time, journalists must be alert and cautious in handling information, especially politically sensitive, blocking and filtering bad and toxic information that causes interference and negatively affects people's awareness and public opinion.
On this occasion, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission presented gifts of gratitude to 27 veteran journalists and awarded Certificates of Merit to 123 journalists with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day./.
