The Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense has just issued guidelines on organizing direct admission, priority admission and admission of excellent high school students to military universities and colleges at military academies and schools in 2023.

1. Admission objects
a) Direct admission subjects:
- Candidates are subject to the provisions in Clause 1 and Point a, Clause 2, Article 8 of the Admission Regulations, specifically as follows:
+ Labor Hero, People's Armed Forces Hero, National Emulation Fighter graduated from high school.
+ Candidates who won first, second, or third prizes in national or international competitions for excellent students or national or international science and technology competitions organized and sent to participate by the Ministry of Education and Training ; the time of winning the prize must not exceed 3 years from the time of direct admission.
- Candidates who are subject to the regulations in Point b and Point c, Clause 4, Article 8 of the Admission Regulations, specifically as follows:
+ Candidates are ethnic minorities with very few people according to current regulations of the Government and candidates from 20 poor border and island districts in the Southwest region.
+ Candidates who have had a permanent residence for 3 years or more, studied for 3 years and graduated from high school in poor districts (boarding students of ethnic minorities are calculated based on their permanent residence) according to regulations of the Government and Prime Minister.
Candidates who are eligible for direct admission as prescribed in Point b and Point c, Clause 4, Article 8 of the Admission Regulations must meet the requirements on conduct and academic ability according to the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense (specific content of the schools is announced in the Admission Plan).
b) Priority admission subjects
Military schools comply with the provisions of Clause 5, Article 8 of the Admissions Regulations (candidates are given priority for admission in the year of high school graduation), including:
- Candidates who are subject to the regulations in Clause 1 and Point a, Clause 2, Article 8 of the Admission Regulations but do not use the right to direct admission, will be given priority for admission to the majors according to their wishes.
- Candidates who win consolation prizes in national excellent student competitions; candidates who win fourth prizes in national science and technology competitions will be given priority for admission according to the major appropriate to the exam subject or content of the competition topic in which they won the prize; the time of winning the prize must not exceed 3 years from the time of admission.
c) Subjects for admission to excellent high school students
Candidates graduating from high school in 2023, with good academic performance, good conduct in grades 10, 11, semester I of grade 12 and meeting one of the following conditions:
- Participate in the provincial or centrally-run city-level excellent student exam and win first, second, or third prize in one of the subjects according to the admission combination of the recruiting school or a combination of 3 subjects according to the admission combination of the recruiting school (for candidates who win first, second, or third prize in the provincial or centrally-run city-level excellent student exam before graduating from high school, their scores will be retained until the end of their high school graduation year; their scores will only be retained until the year they finish grade 12 and pass the high school graduation exam; the years after graduating from high school are no longer valid for admission).
- Have a foreign language score of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 55 or higher (certificate is still valid at the time of admission).
- Have an international SAT score of 1,068 or higher or an average ACT score of 18 or higher (certificate must be valid at the time of admission).
- Obtain Russian language certificate TRKI-2 or higher (certificate is still valid at the time of admission), apply for admission to Russian language major at the Academy of Military Sciences.
- Obtain HSK-4 Chinese language certificate or higher (certificate is still valid at the time of admission), apply for admission to Chinese language major at the Academy of Military Science.
2. Regulations on preliminary selection and registration for admission
- Candidates applying for direct admission, priority admission and admission of excellent high school students must pass the preliminary selection and meet the admission standards in terms of politics, ethics, culture, age and health according to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense.
- Candidates must have two types of documents: One set of preliminary documents and one set of documents for direct admission (or priority admission, admission of excellent high school students).
+ Candidates who have submitted their preliminary application to the school they registered for admission, submit a set of application documents for direct admission, priority admission or admission of excellent high school students at the Military Admissions Board at the district level (district, town, city under the province).
+ Candidates who have not submitted their preliminary application must participate in the preliminary application and submit their preliminary application together with their application for direct admission, priority admission or admission for excellent high school students.
+ Candidates who do not pass the preliminary selection and do not have a preliminary selection record at the schools will not be eligible for direct admission, priority admission, or admission of excellent high school students to military universities and colleges in the army.
3. Time and place of registration
- Candidates register for admission and complete preliminary application documents at the Military Recruitment Board at the district level where the candidate registers permanent residence before June 25, 2023.
