In the convoy escorting US Secretary of State Antony Blinken from Noi Bai airport to the Metropole hotel on the evening of April 14, there were two Cadillac DTS cars with deep, unusually thick windows. These were two cars brought to Vietnam by the US government in 2009, one for the US Ambassador and one for the Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

This Cadillac DTS is a second generation, produced from 2006-2011, before being replaced by the full-size sedan XTS. The car was modified to have B7 level bulletproof capability, able to withstand 7.62 x 63mm armor-piercing bullets from sniper rifles.
The car's body is armored with a thickness of up to 12cm, the windows are up to 6cm thick. The suspension system is upgraded to withstand a weight of up to 3,444kg. The tires are run-flat, capable of running even when hit by bullets.
The armor-piercing Cadillac DTS escorted US Vice President Kamala Harris during her visit to Vietnam in August 2021.
Under the hood, this Cadillac DTS is equipped with a 4.6L V8 gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 275 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and maximum torque of 390Nm at 4,600 rpm.
The Cadillac DTS is the successor to the Cadillac DeVille, positioned in the large luxury sedan segment. The car is 5,273mm long, 1,899mm wide and 1,463mm high, respectively. This model was once chosen as the US President's car, before the Cadillac One was put into use in 2009.
