According to forecasts, this evening (August 30), storm No. 6 will make landfall in the provinces of Ha Tinh - Bac Quang Tri, these are the areas that have been affected by storms and floods due to the influence of storm No. 5. The Prime Minister requested localities to proactively arrange forces, means and organize the implementation of support work to evacuate and relocate people in unsafe areas.

On the afternoon of August 30, the Prime Minister issued telegram No. 153/CD-TTg to the Secretaries and Chairmen of the People's Committees of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh , Quang Tri, Hue provinces and related ministries and branches on focusing on responding to storm No. 6.

According to the telegram, storm No. 6 (international name Nongfa) is moving rapidly (speed of about 20-25 km/hour) towards the sea and mainland of the Central region of our country.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this evening (August 30), storm No. 6 will make landfall in the provinces of Ha Tinh - Northern Quang Tri , these are the areas that have been affected by storms and floods due to the influence of storm No. 5. The provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue City will have heavy to very heavy rain; there is a very high risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas, riverside areas, and urban areas.

This is a fast-moving storm, making landfall during the weekend and preparations for the National Day on September 2. To proactively respond to storm No. 6 and the floods caused by the storm, ensure the safety of people's lives, and minimize property damage, the Prime Minister requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of the above-mentioned provinces and cities to monitor and regularly update information on the developments of the storm and floods, to proactively direct the implementation of response work in accordance with specific developments in the locality, focusing on the following tasks:

Continue to check and count boats and vehicles operating at sea; use all means to inform boats and vehicles still operating at sea about the storm's developments; guide them to move away from and not enter areas at risk of being affected by the storm; call on and guide boats and vehicles to safe storm shelters; guide and support people to deploy necessary measures to ensure the safety of boats at anchorage (to prevent sinking at shelters), especially to prevent storms and lightning that can cause damage before the storm directly affects them.

Proactively arrange forces, means and organize the implementation of evacuation support and relocation of people in unsafe areas, especially in weak houses, low-lying residential areas, places at risk of coastal and riverside landslides, areas affected by big waves, flooding due to rising sea levels, heavy rains, and at risk of flash floods and landslides.

Absolutely do not let people stay on boats, rafts, and aquaculture huts when the storm directly affects them.

Directing proactive operations, ensuring safety of hydroelectric and irrigation dams to avoid unexpected situations; Proactively arranging forces, materials and means in key areas to be ready to deploy response, rescue and relief work when situations arise.

The Prime Minister requested the Minister of Agriculture and Environment to direct the hydrometeorological forecasting agency to continue to closely monitor and provide full and timely information on the developments of storms, floods and rains to the authorities and people so that they can proactively deploy response work according to regulations; proactively direct the work of ensuring the safety of dykes, irrigation dams, and protecting agricultural production; organize 24/7 on-duty to closely monitor the situation, proactively direct and urge localities to deploy response work in accordance with the actual situation, promptly report and propose to the Prime Minister to direct issues beyond their authority.

The Minister of Industry and Trade directs the work of ensuring the safety of hydroelectric dams; ensuring the safety of the power system; taking proactive measures to respond to incidents in areas forecast to be at high risk of being isolated due to floods and landslides; and ensuring the supply of essential goods.

The Ministry of National Defense and the Public Security have directed to prepare plans, proactively arrange forces and mobile vehicles to support local people in areas forecast to be at high risk of being cut off and isolated due to the impact of storms and floods; and be ready to deploy response and rescue work when requested.

The Office of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee coordinates with the competent authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to closely monitor the situation, proactively advise competent authorities to direct and respond appropriately to the situation; be ready to coordinate and mobilize forces and means to support localities in responding to storms and floods according to assigned functions and tasks.
