Rabid dog bites a 6 year old child and many other dogs

On September 19, Dinh Quan District Medical Center (Dong Nai) reported the case of NNGH (6 years old, residing in Dinh Quan town) being bitten by a rabid dog.

Previously, on the evening of September 16, in Hiep Loi neighborhood, Dinh Quan town where H's family lives, a strange yellow dog appeared, weighing about 10kg.

This dog was aggressive, had red eyes, drooled and had bitten many other dogs in the neighborhood. At the same time, H was playing at the door of the house and was bitten by the dog on the right chest. The wound did not bleed but there were 2 red spots on the skin.

The family gave first aid at home and did not take H to a medical facility. The dog was captured by the people and samples were taken for testing. The strange dog was found to be infected with rabies. The veterinary staff also advised the family to take H for a rabies vaccination.

Notably, Hiep Loi neighborhood has 17 dogs from 12 households that have come into contact with the rabid dog mentioned above. Currently, these dogs have been kept in captivity and monitored for signs of rabies.

It is known that since the beginning of the year, Dong Nai has had 27 rabies outbreaks, of which Dinh Quan has 7.
