Along with that, traffic routes are being gradually completed, creating a synchronous traffic network connecting Long Thanh airport with Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.
Many routes are about to reach the finish line
On the two traffic routes directly connecting to Long Thanh airport, T1 and T2, the construction atmosphere is taking place urgently these days. T1 road is the gateway to Long Thanh airport connecting with National Highway 51, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, Provincial Road 25B, 25C and Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City, which has now taken shape, most of the road surface is paved with asphalt.
Meanwhile, route T2 connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with Long Thanh airport is designed with 4 lanes, with a speed of 100km/h, currently reaching more than 80% of construction volume and expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
The Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project connecting the western provinces and the southern part of Ho Chi Minh City with Long Thanh airport has opened to traffic for nearly 30km. However, the Phuoc Khanh and Binh Khanh bridges are still under construction, and the section from the intersection of National Highway 51 to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway is still in disarray. Mr. Ha Van Mai (a local resident) said: "My family and some households in this area have been notified of land reclamation but have not yet relocated because they are waiting for compensation."
The Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project is 8.14km long, starting from the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway (Long Truong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) to the intersection with DT25B Road (Nhon Trach Commune, Dong Nai ), in which Nhon Trach Bridge - the largest bridge on the entire route has been opened to traffic. The remaining component projects of Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City are being accelerated, expected to be completed by the end of 2025, contributing to the completion of the traffic network connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai and connecting to Long Thanh Airport.

The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project through Ho Chi Minh City, 19.5km long, with 4-6 lanes, was technically opened to traffic on April 30 and is expected to be put into operation at the end of this year, helping to connect Long Thanh airport with the coastal tourism center of Vung Tau.
In Dong Nai province, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway is 34km long, many sections and large intersections have been formed and contractors are rushing to complete the construction with the goal of opening to traffic on December 19. The locality is speeding up the progress of projects to upgrade, expand and invest in the construction of DT 769, 773 and 770B routes with a total investment of more than VND 18,000 billion, aiming to form traffic axes connecting localities in the province to Long Thanh airport.
Forming a synchronous transportation network
Along with the expressways, Dong Nai has a series of other road projects and constructions that have just been started or are part of the traffic network planning connecting to Long Thanh airport. Recently, the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with a length of 22km (the first section from the intersection of Ring Road 2 - Ho Chi Minh City to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection) with a total investment of nearly 16,300 billion VND has started construction.
As planned, the project will be completed by the end of 2026, helping to increase traffic capacity, reduce congestion, shorten travel time between Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, neighboring provinces and especially connect the two international airports Tan Son Nhat and Long Thanh.
Meanwhile, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province is coordinating with relevant units to complete the investment dossier for the project to extend the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line to Tran Bien, Long Thanh airport and develop the TOD urban model with a length of about 38.5km. This metro line helps to effectively connect regions, expand access to Long Thanh airport, promote tourism, trade, and services, thereby creating momentum for socio -economic development of the province.
Metro lines 2 and 6, Cat Lai bridge project, Dong Nai 2, Phu My 2, and the National Highway 51 elevated expressway are being proposed to enhance connectivity to Long Thanh airport. In addition to the North-South high-speed railway, Dong Nai province will have additional railway lines Thu Thiem - Long Thanh, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, and a metro line from the central area of the province to Long Thanh airport. Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee will continue to coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to study the metro line connecting Tan Son Nhat airport and Long Thanh airport to serve the needs of passenger and cargo transportation.
