The Art Council met to discuss the plan to select works to participate in the National Achievement Exhibition.

The Arts Council includes leading experts in the fields of fine arts, photography and exhibitions; leaders of a number of management agencies and professional associations; representatives of fine arts training institutions, along with prestigious and experienced researchers and artists.

The exhibition of national achievements on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) is not simply an exhibition activity but also an opportunity to look back at the development of Vietnamese visual arts, from the early days of independence, national construction to the renovation and integration today. This is also an opportunity to honor the lasting artistic values that generations of artists have worked hard to cultivate.

Dr. Dang Thi Phong Lan, Principal of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, commented: “The exhibition is an opportunity to look back at the development of Vietnamese visual arts, with works that meet clear criteria of artistic value and content, reflecting the depth of the artist’s thoughts and emotions towards the country’s movements. In addition to traditional themes such as revolutionary war, many artists have broadened their perspectives with contemporary themes such as urban life, nature, environment, socio-economic development, national cultural identity, etc. Through materials, techniques and expressive styles, we can clearly see the spirit of innovation and integration of Vietnamese fine arts.”

Many typical works bearing the mark of the times were selected to be introduced at the National Achievements Exhibition on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day.

According to artist Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and Chairman of the Art Council, this exhibition brings together outstanding authors with works of artistic value and depth of content: “Since the day Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence, the country has gone through many historical stages, from resistance, construction to innovation and integration. Fine arts, photography, each type has accompanied that flow with diverse forms of expression. The exhibition demonstrates the continuous creative journey and the spirit of continuity of generations of artists.”

Members of the Art Council reviewed and discussed directly the works expected to be displayed at the National Achievement Exhibition.

He also said that the Art Council worked seriously, objectively, and carefully assessed each work: “The themes expressed are very diverse, from the image of soldiers, border areas, islands to daily life. There are works that the Council had to consider carefully because each artist has a unique voice and a unique way of expressing themselves. Although it is not possible to display national treasures or works of the first generation due to storage conditions, overall, the exhibition still vividly reflects the development journey of Vietnamese fine arts over the past 80 years.”

Representative of the organizing unit, Mr. Ngo Tuan Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions, affirmed: “The Department always plays an important role in organizing fine arts and photography activities on a national scale. This exhibition not only aims to honor the achievements of the past 80 years, but also contributes to spreading cultural and artistic values to the public at home and abroad, contributing to affirming the role of Vietnamese fine arts in the cultural life of the region and the world”.

Through many rounds of careful evaluation, the Art Council selected 250 works, including 100 photography works and 150 outstanding fine art works, to be introduced within the framework of the exhibition.

The Organizing Committee is continuing to finalize the list of works, while preparing for exhibition and communication work, in order to contribute to creating highlights in the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
