As a pioneer in applying science and technology to production, the 19/5 Agricultural Development Service Cooperative has invested in an experimental garden of more than 7 hectares. Here, the Cooperative focuses on researching the cultivation of temperate fruit trees, selecting native trees as standard rootstocks to create many unique, high-quality fruit tree varieties, such as: Golden Peak Plum, early-ripening plum, late-ripening plum, early-ripening peach, milk grape, temperate pear and jujube tree with the characteristics of strong trees and high productivity.
Taking us to visit the experimental garden, Mr. Mai Duc Thinh, Director of the Cooperative, shared: The Cooperative designed the experimental garden to grow new varieties of plants that meet technical requirements and are also beautiful to serve visitors. From the plant varieties that bring efficiency in the experimental garden, the Cooperative has linked up with farmers, guiding them to apply science and technology, put new varieties into production, bringing consumers quality and safe products.
At Bon Bon Agricultural Tourism Cooperative, Muong Sang Ward has selected unique crops to put into production, such as: raspberries, American figs, cherry tomatoes, peony grapes, Colombian passion fruit and planted gourds and squash varieties that produce giant fruits weighing from 50 - 100 kg, creating a unique natural landscape, attracting tourists. Along with that, the Cooperative focuses on developing Hana strawberry varieties (Japan), King Berry giant strawberries (Korea), white powder snow strawberries, pink cheek snow strawberries, sky strawberries and Oishii (Japan)... Each type of tree is cared for according to technical processes, ensuring that the fruit is always of the best quality, retains its fresh flavor, and is rich in nutrients.
Mr. Lai Tuan Viet, Manager of Bon Bon Farm, Bon Bon Agricultural Tourism Cooperative, informed: With new plant varieties, we always test them first to check their adaptability to the climate and soil of Moc Chau. Because these are all imported plant varieties, the care process is not yet complete, so the Cooperative has to research by itself. After mastering the technique, we proceed to propagate them to serve the production Cooperative and farmers in the area.
The selection of new varieties for production has been proactively, actively implemented and replicated by enterprises, cooperatives and farmers in Moc Chau town. New crop models also actively apply advanced and modern technology to production. Planting plants in net houses and greenhouses; investing in automatic fertilizer and irrigation systems; using agricultural film... helps prevent plant diseases, reduce care efforts, always ensure humidity to help plants grow and develop healthily, giving high productivity and output.
To date, Moc Chau has 486 establishments applying water-saving irrigation for more than 610 hectares; 141 establishments investing in greenhouses and net houses with an area of more than 100 hectares; more than 1,120 hectares of fruit trees and vegetables of all kinds recognized to meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards; 24 growing area codes for export; production value per hectare of cultivated land reaches nearly 80 million VND.
Many new plant varieties bring high economic efficiency, such as: Sweet Palermo pepper with revenue of 500 million/ha; yellow melon grown in greenhouses, membrane houses, yielding about 30 tons/ha with selling price of about 45-50 thousand VND/kg; South American watermelon, yielding 35 tons/ha, selling price of 80-120 thousand VND/kg; yellow-skinned dragon fruit, harvested 4 crops/year, yielding nearly 30 tons/ha, selling price of 50-80 thousand VND/kg...
With the efforts, creativity, and change in thinking in production of farmers, new suitable crops with economic efficiency have been introduced into production, contributing to the diversification of agricultural products in Moc Chau town. At the same time, creating new quality products, serving consumer needs associated with agricultural eco-tourism experiences.
