On the morning of August 27, comrade Le Trong Yen, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a working session to listen to reports on the management and exploitation of irrigation works and rural clean water works in the province.

According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Lam Dong currently has 966 irrigation works and irrigation systems of all kinds being exploited and used. These works play a key role in providing water for agricultural production, daily life, industrial activities, tourism and other economic sectors of the province.
Of these, there are 536 reservoirs, 255 dams, 13 sluice gates, 51 pumping stations and 91 temporary dams, along with a 3,632km long canal system and a system of dykes, sea dykes and river dykes.

Lam Dong aims to have irrigated farming areas reach over 73.45% of the total area requiring irrigation by the end of 2025; of which, the irrigated area from irrigation works will reach about 150,128 hectares. In particular, the province focuses on investing in advanced, water-saving irrigation solutions, with the target of reaching about 97,202 hectares.

The province currently has 624 centralized rural water supply works in operation, providing clean water for daily life to 186,504 households. However, according to the Rural Water Monitoring and Evaluation Index, the rate of sustainable operation of works is only 27.08% (169/624 works). Meanwhile, the number of inactive works accounts for a fairly high rate, with 47.76% (298/624 works).
The Department of Agriculture and Environment also pointed out some difficulties in management and exploitation. Notably, the fact that many entities are involved in exploiting irrigation works and centralized water supply makes it difficult to unify the operating model and ensure compliance with regulations.

At the Conference, the units also reported on their organizational structure, operational apparatus and business situation. At the same time, they proposed solutions to promote more effective operations, as well as researched a streamlined, effective and efficient model in this field.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen emphasized the importance of safe dam management and effective exploitation of irrigation works and rural clean water.
He requested departments, branches and units to focus on solving difficulties and problems to ensure adequate water supply for production and daily life, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
It is necessary to build synchronous prices and policies to narrow the gap and put the goal of benefiting people first.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen emphasized
Regarding the operation of the works, comrade Le Trong Yen noted the need for an effective management and operation model to overcome existing limitations. In particular, the Department of Finance was assigned to coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs to evaluate the effectiveness of the water and irrigation management model and, based on the most optimal management and operational organization model, to seek opinions on the arrangement and implementation.
