Combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods is a central, long-term and continuous task.

(DN)- On the afternoon of June 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a national online conference to review the work in the first 6 months of 2025 and summarize the peak period of fighting, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights. Also attending was Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son.

According to the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee on Combating Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (National Steering Committee 389), in the peak month of fighting, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights, units and localities arrested and handled more than 10.4 thousand cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. Of which, more than 6.8 thousand cases were related to trade fraud and tax fraud; more than 1.6 thousand cases were related to counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights. The total amount of money collected for the state budget reached more than 1.2 trillion VND; 204 cases were prosecuted, 378 defendants.

In particular, units and localities with outstanding and typical achievements in this peak month include: Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy, Smuggling ( Ministry of Public Security ), Department of Management and Development of Domestic Market (Ministry of Industry and Trade); provinces and cities: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Cao Bang, Yen Bai, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu...

Regarding the results of the first 6 months of 2025, units and localities have arrested and handled more than 50.7 thousand violations. The total amount of money collected for the state budget reached more than 1.2 trillion VND, temporarily seized goods and exhibits worth an estimated over 6.5 trillion VND; prosecuted 1,875 cases...

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement is a key, long-term and continuous task; it is necessary to mobilize the participation of the entire society, from functional agencies to people and businesses.

In particular, relevant units and localities need to resolutely declare war, prevent and repel the production, circulation and trading of fake drugs and functional foods - these are products that directly affect people's health and lives. Relevant ministries, branches and units need to overcome difficulties and obstacles; perfect strict control mechanisms, and resolutely and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate regulations on product quality.

In addition, information and propaganda work, raising people's awareness and responsibility in preventing and identifying violations and methods also need to be focused on by ministries, branches, localities and press agencies.
