Early in the morning of August 8th, aviation engineers, technicians, and flight crews from the 918th Air Brigade (Air Defense - Air Force Command) were present at Gia Lam Airport ( Hanoi ) to conduct inspections and prepare for a training flight over the capital city.

At 6:00 AM, four transport aircraft, including one Casa C-295 (the largest) and three Casa C-212s, began their takeoff on the runway. The C-295 led the way; two C-212s took off simultaneously, staggered on the runway, and the last C-212, serial number 8992, flew last.

The Casa-212 aircraft, flight number 8982, flew against a golden sky at dawn today.

This is a medium-sized transport aircraft that can be armed for border and coastal patrol.

The squadron flew over many scenic areas in the heart of the capital.

The weather today is quite favorable for flight training.

The formation of four transport aircraft was led by a C-295, followed by three C-212s. The C-295 is a transport aircraft with a length of 24,495m, a wingspan of 25,810m, a height of 8,663m, and a maximum speed of up to 454km/h.

This transport aircraft can carry a maximum of 23.2 tons of cargo and 71 people.

The roar of the aircraft engines is quite impressive. On Bat Khoi Street, near the airport, these planes can be seen up close.

All four of these aircraft will perform at the grand celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd.

The aircraft will maintain a 1-2-1 formation, with synchronized speed and distance, as they fly over the reviewing stand at Ba Dinh Square.

The differences in size, weight, and flight speed characteristics between the C-295 and the C-212 create a challenging training problem for pilots.

Forty years after the parade commemorating International Labor Day on May 1, 1985, the Vietnamese Air Force's transport aircraft formation returned to perform aerial displays over Hanoi on National Day, September 2.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Quoc Hung
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Quoc Hung, commander of Squadron 3, 918th Air Force Brigade, said: "After several flight exercises, starting with 2, then 3, and now 4 aircraft, today we have successfully executed the planned maneuvers, taking off according to two scenarios and forming an arrow formation with the Casa C-295 leading. After nearly a month, the training process has been completely smooth and safe."
