Owner of kindergarten in Hai Phong admits to beating children

The image of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lieu - owner of Ha My Independent Kindergarten (located in Tran Nguyen Han ward, Le Chan district, Hai Phong ) holding a comb and hitting the soles of children's feet was recorded in a clip, causing a stir on social networks in recent days.

The incident happened at the end of 2022. Ms. Lieu said her actions were to deter and teach the children to be better, not to abuse or beat them.

When the child's mother came to pick him up, the kindergarten owner discussed the child's misbehavior and punishment, and asked the family and school to remind and advise him further. The parents were happy and did not complain. The following days, the child went to school normally and was more well-behaved.

After Lunar New Year 2023, due to family matters, the young mother asked for her child to leave school at the facility to transfer to another facility near home.

Ms. Lieu affirmed that she did not repeatedly hit children as reported. “I do not make excuses, I accept my mistakes and will take responsibility. I myself have learned a profound lesson and will remind the staff and teachers of the facility in the future,” Ms. Lieu said.

Regarding the message shared on social media with words isolating children who are about to leave such as "absolutely do not touch it, do not force-feed it, do not need to discipline and pay attention", Ms. Lieu said her purpose when reminding teachers was to pay attention to not let children get injured or pushed by friends. However, due to incorrect language, it caused misunderstandings to parents.

Mr. Pham Sy Tuyen - Head of the Departmentof Education and Training of Le Chan district said that the unit's viewpoint is to handle it strictly, even if it is an incident that happened in the past.

Previously, social networks shared a clip of a woman believed to be a teacher at the Ha My Independent Kindergarten using a comb to hit a child's feet. According to the reflection of parents whose children study at this facility, in the zalo group, if anyone has a contrary opinion, that person will immediately be "invited" out of the group, and their children will also be isolated.

This parent also shared a conversation on social media between the owner of the facility and the teacher at the school with the content: "The children who are off this month absolutely do not touch them, do not force-feed them, do not need to be disciplined or paid attention to. Do not let them get hurt or anything, it is complicated."

Authorities in Le Chan district are investigating the incident.
