FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh said that Resolution 57 is a sign of the country's destiny, a fulcrum for Vietnam to enter an era of rising up, becoming a powerful, prosperous and flourishing nation.
At the 6th Make in Vietnam Forum, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh shared an inspiring story about FPT's journey to the world .
According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, on September 3, 1988, the first day of the company's establishment, FPT's vision was to become a new, powerful organization, through efforts in science and technology, contributing to national prosperity.
10 years later, FPT decided to go abroad. “ Seeing the success of India, we opened a branch in Bangalore but did not have any contracts. I thought we should go to Silicon Valley (USA), we opened a branch there but did not have any contracts either ”, Mr. Binh shared about the first difficult days of going to the big sea.
When the money ran out and many people were disappointed, “light at the end of the tunnel” appeared for FPT when Mr. Ishida (Sumitomo Corporation) introduced this business to leading corporations in Japan.
Here, FPT discovered something very important, which is still relevant today. That is, no country has IT engineers willing to learn the native language. They mainly speak English.
“ We are very fortunate to have former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung allow a company to establish a university to teach IT engineers Japanese. Today, that is the strength of Vietnam in Japan, ” the Chairman of FPT shared.
Up to now, most of the foreign software companies in Japan are Vietnamese companies. Vietnam also has its own software association in Japan.
However, not stopping at Japanese, FPT engineers also started learning Korean, Chinese, German, French and many other languages to make it a bridge to bring this corporation to the international market. Learning the native language to sell software services, this is considered a unique way of doing things in Vietnam.
According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, there are currently two favorable conditions ensuring that the Vietnamese software industry abroad continues to grow at a high rate. These are the emergence of the 4th industrial revolution and global geopolitical fluctuations.
“ The leading corporations have tens of billions of USD in revenue in traditional industries. Their teams mostly focus on IT. Meanwhile, Vietnam can easily move to a small field, with a scale of less than tens of billions of USD, but growing very quickly, which is digital transformation, ” said the Chairman of FPT.
Geopolitical conflicts between countries also contribute to the development of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises.
“ When the powers withdraw from China, they transfer that work to Vietnam. They even transfer the team that they have spent many years building to Vietnam. By doing so, we shorten the path to accumulate knowledge, know-how about the industry and technology by 10 years ,” Mr. Binh said.
At the present time, when Vietnam has a team equivalent to developed countries in IT, the Chairman of FPT believes that it is time for us to have a change. In that context, Resolution 57 is like a sign that the country's fortunes have come.
Sharing his perspective, Mr. Truong Gia Binh said: “ In the past, when Archimedes said, if I were given a fulcrum, I could leverage the whole world. I think Resolution 57 is the fulcrum for Vietnam to enter the era of rising up, becoming a powerful, prosperous, and prosperous nation. This is the aspiration of the entire nation .”
