After 3 days of serious and urgent work, with the motto "Democracy, solidarity, innovation, integration, development", and a high sense of responsibility towards all cadres, members, and farmers nationwide, the congress completed all the contents and programs set out.
The Congress was honored to welcome General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and comrades Vo Van Thuong - Politburo member, President; comrade Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister; comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman.
At the solemn opening session, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered an important speech directing the congress, demonstrating the deep concern of the Party and State for the peasant class and the Vietnam Farmers' Union .
At the Congress, there were many opinions discussed enthusiastically, frankly, democratically and unanimously passed important documents of the Congress: Report of the Executive Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VII; Charter of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (supplemented and amended); Review report of the Executive Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VII, 2018 - 2023.
The Congress discussed and approved major and comprehensive policies and orientations in the leadership and direction of the Central Executive Committee of the Association for the new term; highly agreed on 5 general goals, 17 specific targets, proposed 7 groups of tasks and solutions (including 3 key and breakthrough tasks) to concretize the goals, targets and tasks of the Association's work and the farmers' movement for the new term; demonstrated the unity of will and strong determination of the Association at all levels, cadres, members and farmers nationwide in the next 5-year period.
The Congress wisely selected and elected the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for the 8th term 2023 - 2028, consisting of 111 comrades representing more than 10 million farmer members, who have the qualities, capacity and qualifications to undertake the tasks assigned by the Congress.
At the first conference of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VIII, 18 members of the Standing Committee were elected, the President and 4 Vice Presidents of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; Comrade Luong Quoc Doan, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VII, was re-elected as President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VIII.
Four comrades: Pham Tien Nam, Dinh Khac Dinh, Bui Thi Thom and Nguyen Xuan Dinh continued to be elected as Vice Chairmen of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VIII.
Comrade Nguyen Quang Tung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nghe An province was elected to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association for the 2023-2028 term with an absolute number of votes.
Delivering the closing speech of the congress, comrade Luong Quoc Doan, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VIII, affirmed: The success of the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union is an important driving force to strongly encourage cadres, members and farmers nationwide to seize opportunities and advantages, overcome difficulties and challenges, continue to innovate the organization and activities of the Union, creating new strength for the peasant class and the Vietnam Farmers' Union. The congress voted to pass the Resolution of the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term 2023 - 2028.
The Congress requested that the Association at all levels organize well the dissemination and propaganda of the results of the Congress among all cadres, members and farmers nationwide; study and thoroughly grasp the Resolution and documents of the Congress; promptly develop and implement specific action programs to put the Resolution of the Congress into practice, contributing to the development of prosperous agriculture, wealthy farmers, civilized and modern countryside.
