When mentioning Ms. Do Thi Kim Oanh (born in 1969), President of the Women's Union of Nam Sach town, many people are impressed by a quick and energetic woman.

Despite her age, Ms. Oanh is always full of energy and enthusiasm for association work. Taking on the role of President of the Women's Union of Nam Sach town since 2019, Ms. Oanh has made many marks in caring for disadvantaged women and children in Nam Sach district.

Every year, Ms. Oanh mobilizes hundreds of millions of dong from the community to give gifts to people in difficult circumstances in the town. She actively mobilizes from small traders in the district market to people from her hometown who are working and living abroad. Thanks to that, poor children and women in the town receive gifts from the Women's Union on most holidays and Tet. To gain the trust of philanthropists, Ms. Oanh organizes transparent and public gift giving activities.

During the day, she works at the People's Committee of Nam Sach town. In the evening, she rides her bike to visit and inspect the club activities of the women's associations in the town. When she first took on the task of building a civilized and model street, Ms. Oanh often went to inspect early in the morning when the environmental sanitation team had just finished collecting garbage.

Implementing the "godmother" program to support orphans, Ms. Oanh has connected with benefactors to sponsor 21 children with sponsorship amount of over 200 million VND in 3 years. Thanks to that, Nam Sach Town Women's Union is the first commune-level unit in the province to sponsor many orphans. Ms. Oanh also sponsored 1 child in difficult circumstances. Being energetic and enthusiastic, Ms. Oanh not only does a good job of taking care of the lives of women in Nam Sach Town but also supports other communes to complete difficult tasks. Nam Sach Town Women's Union is at the forefront of movements, having been awarded a certificate of merit by the Vietnam Women's Union for 5 consecutive years.

Joy from association work

Under the leadership of Ms. Oanh (in blue shirt), the Women's Union of Nam Sach town has received a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Women's Union for 5 consecutive years.

Sharing about her journey with the women's association, Ms. Oanh also had many concerns. Those were worries about funding, human resources, and time when organizing activities because women are currently working in companies, doing business, and are very busy. Regarding funding, the state budget to support the association's activities is still limited, and if social mobilization is not done properly, it can easily lead to negative consequences.

With her daring, Ms. Oanh determined to overcome difficulties to organize good activities, helping society. Thanks to that, the activities that Ms. Oanh mobilized to organize were all well-organized, grand and received the support of many women in Nam Sach town. That consensus was also the joy and motivation for her to make every effort with the association's work.

Thanks to her efforts, Ms. Oanh received many certificates of merit. In 2023, she received a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee for her outstanding achievements in implementing the association's work and women's movement in the period 2018 - 2023. This year, she was proposed to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to be awarded for her outstanding achievements in studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh .

Evaluating the results of Ms. Oanh's work, Mr. Vuong Phuc Thanh, Head of the Propaganda Department of Nam Sach District Party Committee, affirmed that she is a typical example of the district in studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh. Ms. Oanh's contributions contribute to promoting the tradition of "heroic, indomitable, loyal and responsible" women and to local development.
