At the talks, President Luong Cuong welcomed President Sulyok Tamás and his wife, along with the high-ranking delegation of the Hungarian State, on an official visit to Vietnam, emphasizing that this visit, taking place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950 - 2025), is an important event, contributing to creating a breakthrough in deepening and making the Vietnam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership increasingly more effective.
Expressing his sincere gratitude for the valuable support and assistance that Hungary has given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation, as well as in the current national construction and development, the President pointed out that Hungary was one of the first 10 countries in the world to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1950, the most difficult time of Vietnam's struggle for independence.
The President affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen cooperation with Hungary, a top priority partner and Vietnam's first comprehensive partner in the Central Eastern Europe region.
The President congratulated Hungary on its achievements in socio-economic development and European integration in recent years, contributing to enhancing Hungary's position in the region and the world.

President Sulyok Tamás expressed his joy at visiting Vietnam for the first time and sincerely thanked President Luong Cuong for the invitation and the warm, respectful and thoughtful reception given to the delegation.
Particularly impressed, appreciating and congratulating the great achievements that Vietnam has made in the process of Renovation as well as international integration, President Sulyok Tamás affirmed that Hungary always considers Vietnam as the most important partner in Southeast Asia and wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.
The President informed about Vietnam's achievements in all aspects of development and international integration after 40 years of Doi Moi under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Vietnam's efforts to achieve two 100-year goals: by 2030, to become a developing country with modern industry and high average income, and by 2045, to become a developed country with high income, through implementing three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure and development of high-quality human resources.

At the talks, the two leaders expressed their delight at the positive developments in Vietnam-Hungary relations in many areas, especially since the two countries upgraded their relations to Comprehensive Partnership in 2018. The two sides have exchanged many delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones. Economy continues to be a bright spot in bilateral relations with two-way trade turnover reaching nearly 1 billion USD in 2024. Cooperation in other areas such as education - training, environment, culture, tourism, defense - security, people-to-people exchange, etc. continues to achieve good results.
Discussing important orientations and measures to promote bilateral relations, the two leaders agreed to continue to increase contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, through all channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, and people-to-people exchanges to enhance political trust and mutual understanding, creating a foundation for promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields.
Regarding trade and investment, the two sides affirmed that this is an important pillar in bilateral relations; agreed to further promote the role of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation, encourage ministries, branches, localities and enterprises of the two countries to effectively implement the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA); agreed to strengthen investment cooperation in Hungary's strong fields such as information technology, energy, agriculture, food industry, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, etc. to bridge each other into the ASEAN market (with a population of over 650 million people and a GDP of over 4,000 billion USD) and the EU market, including the Central Eastern European region.
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong thanked Hungary for being one of the first EU countries to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); thanked and asked Hungary to continue supporting the remaining EU countries to soon ratify this Agreement, and supported the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" for Vietnamese seafood exports.

Regarding education and training, both sides assessed that this is a traditional area of cooperation between the two countries. The President thanked Hungary for helping Vietnam, training thousands of officials, many of whom now hold important positions in the Vietnamese state apparatus and economy, making positive contributions to the friendship between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to increase the effective use of 200 scholarships that Hungary grants annually to Vietnamese students, prioritizing training in fields that Vietnam currently has high demand for such as healthcare, pharmacy, information technology and communications, environment, agriculture, etc.
The two leaders said it is necessary to promote effective cooperation in traditional areas such as defense - security, science - technology, agriculture, medicine - pharmacy, culture, tourism, people-to-people exchange, while promoting the expansion of cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, information technology, environment, water resources management, etc.
President Luong Cuong thanked Hungary for its appreciation of the Vietnamese community in Hungary and asked Hungarian authorities at all levels to continue creating favorable conditions for the community to stabilize their lives, integrate more deeply into the host society, and make positive contributions to Hungary's development as well as the good traditional friendship between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, contributing to jointly solving global challenges.
Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea issue, the Hungarian President assessed that the two countries have many similarities in foreign policy and national history, and both love peace and justice.
The two sides agreed that disputes and conflicts in the world need to be resolved by peaceful means, on the basis of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), contributing to maintaining peace, stability, security, freedom of navigation and aviation in the regions and in the world, for global cooperation and common prosperity.
On this occasion, President Sulyok Tamás respectfully invited President Luong Cuong to visit Hungary. The President happily accepted the invitation and will arrange to visit Hungary at a suitable time.
