On the morning of June 21, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Mr. Najib El Khadi, Secretary General of the Moroccan House of Representatives and President of the World Association of Parliamentary Secretaries General.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed the Secretary General and members of the delegation on their visit and work in Vietnam.
Expressing his delight at the positive developments in relations between the two countries, the National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to promote the friendly and multifaceted cooperation relationship with Morocco.
The National Assembly Chairman reviewed the visits of the two countries' leaders in recent times and congratulated Morocco on its achievements in socio-economic development; he was impressed with the development of Morocco, which ranks 5th out of 10 North African countries with developed economies and many famous and beautiful landscapes in the world.
Expressing his gratitude to the Chairman of the National Assembly and the leaders of the Vietnamese National Assembly for the warm welcome given to the delegation, Mr. Najib El Khadi congratulated Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man on his election as Chairman of the National Assembly.
Expressing his pleasure to visit and work in Vietnam, Mr. Najib El Khadi said that he will have a working session with Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong to discuss cooperation opportunities between the two advisory bodies, serving the legislative bodies of the two countries on both bilateral and multilateral channels; including implementing and promoting the initiative to establish the Association of Secretaries General of Asia-Pacific Parliaments.
On this occasion, Mr. Najib El Khadi congratulated the important achievements of the Vietnamese National Assembly in recent times, in innovating the way of operating and organizing the National Assembly such as applying modern information technology, digitization, and technology to store image documents.
Mr. Najib El Khadi expressed his impression when visiting the traditional room and the underground archaeological discovery exhibition area of the National Assembly; he said that the issue of preserving and storing archaeological relics could also be a topic for the two sides to exchange experiences, especially at inter-parliamentary mechanisms, mechanisms in which both sides participate.
The Secretary General of the Moroccan House of Representatives emphasized that the cooperative relationship between Morocco and Vietnam has a long history. The affection between the people of the two countries comes from sharing historical memories, fighting together for national liberation and independence as it is today.
Mr. Najib El Khadi said that the Vietnamese people and nation are always in the hearts of the Moroccan people and nation.
According to the Secretary General of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Vietnam and Morocco have many things in common in national construction and development. In particular, both sides are interested in and attach importance to promoting South-South cooperation.
Informing National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man about Morocco's recent socio-economic development, the Secretary General of the Moroccan House of Representatives emphasized that both Vietnam and Morocco are walking together on the path of development; stating that both countries have strengths to further strengthen and tighten the symbolic relationship between the two countries.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that Vietnam and Morocco have a friendly and multifaceted cooperative relationship; emphasizing that parliamentary cooperation is one of the effective channels in the bilateral relationship. The two countries' parliaments have maintained delegation exchanges, high-level contacts, and closely cooperated and supported each other at multilateral inter-parliamentary forums in the world and the region. The two parliaments signed a cooperation agreement in 2017.
The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two sides review and continue to effectively implement the signed cooperation contents; further deepen parliamentary relations, actively exchange delegations at all levels and Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups; further strengthen the exchange of good experiences and valuable lessons of the two countries' National Assemblies in all fields of activity, especially in legislation, and support each other in multilateral forums...
The National Assembly Chairman appreciated Secretary General Najib El Khadi and members of the delegation for attending the plenary session of the Vietnamese National Assembly and will hold talks with Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong.
The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two sides share experiences in organizing the work and operations of the support apparatus of the two countries' legislative bodies to promote parliamentary cooperation; he also hoped that in his capacity as President of the World Association of Parliamentary Secretaries General, Secretary General Najib El Khadi would promote exchanges and sharing of operational experiences of parliaments of other countries with Vietnam.
At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked the President of the Senate and the President of the House of Representatives of Morocco for their congratulations on his election as President of the Vietnamese National Assembly; and respectfully invited the President of the Senate and the President of the House of Representatives of Morocco to soon pay an official visit to Vietnam.
