STRIVE FOR 10% ECONOMIC GROWTH
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung acknowledged and praised the efforts of departments, branches, communes, wards, special zones, and the staff and civil servants in the entire system who have tried to complete the tasks in the period of operating a two-level local government - a completely new model with many tasks and many difficulties - within just 1 month.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that August poses many urgent tasks with a huge workload. Each level, sector, locality and especially the leader must implement the spirit of not waiting, being proactive and responsible. He requested to seriously implement the motto "6 clear" according to the consistent direction of the Prime Minister : Clear people, clear work, clear time, clear responsibility, clear products and clear authority.

All levels and sectors need to urgently implement the conclusions and directions of the Central and Provincial Party Committee leaders; focus on urging, inspecting, and effectively implementing the growth scenario, striving to achieve the growth target of 8.5% and making the greatest effort to achieve 10% according to the province's plan. At the same time, the Provincial Economic Growth Steering Working Group needs to strengthen its work, closely monitor each field, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles to ensure the growth target in 2025.
WELCOME MORE THAN 16.3 MILLION VISITORS According to the People's Committee of An Giang province, in the first 7 months of 2025, the main economic indicators maintained a fairly good growth rate compared to the same period. Industrial production has a fairly good development direction, most of the main industrial products have increased output compared to the same period, value increased by 13.28%, export increased by 11.7%, revenue from tourism activities increased by 92.2% over the same period... The number of newly established enterprises increased by 12.5%. The whole province is estimated to welcome more than 16.3 million visitors, of which international visitors accounted for more than 1 visitor. Disbursement of convention investment capital by July 31, 2025 was 7,776.3 billion VND, reaching 36.50% of the capital plan assigned by the Prime Minister, reaching 29.78% of the capital plan assigned by the Provincial People's Council. |
Regarding the operation of two-level local government, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the agencies' active implementation of 29 decrees on decentralization and delegation of power; at the same time, effectively operating public administrative service centers. Some localities have proactively arranged guidance points and supported people in carrying out administrative procedures in communes, wards and special zones. This is a model that needs to be replicated synchronously in all localities.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial People's Committee Office and the Department of Home Affairs to urgently advise on the promulgation of regulations on ethical standards for cadres and civil servants working at public administrative service centers.
Regarding the 4 central resolutions, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the departments and branches have fully prepared the contents to be ready to sign and issue immediately after receiving the directive document from the Provincial Party Committee. Urgently implement and complete the project to serve APEC 2027 according to the direction of the Provincial Party Committee. For key projects, it is required to focus on speeding up the construction progress, especially the site clearance work at the projects to ensure the overall progress of the province...
HIGHEST RICE PRICE IN THE WORLD
Speaking at the conference, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province Le Huu Toan said that currently, cultivation is the mainstay of the agricultural sector and accounts for 61% of the total sector, mainly rice cultivation. The good news on the morning of August 4 is that the value of Vietnamese rice has surpassed that of Thai and Philippine rice, increasing by 3 USD, to 382 USD/ton and is currently the highest in the world compared to standard products of the same type. In particular, the price of fragrant rice has increased sharply, commonly from 10 - 15 USD/ton and maintained at 505 - 510 USD/ton until now.

In directing and operating, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province always strives to implement the industry's growth scenario at 10%. In the first 7 months of the year, rice output is estimated at more than 6 million tons, reaching 62.90% of the annual plan, of which high-quality rice accounts for 95%. In particular, the area of high-quality rice meeting low-emission standards according to the 1 million ha project has reached 150,151/144,051 ha, reaching 104% of the 2025 plan, with an output of over 900,000 thousand tons (of which, meeting 5 criteria is 43,433 ha, 4 criteria is 108,753 ha). These rice shipments have been successfully exported to the Japanese and European markets with high value.
The project to transform the rice value chain to respond to climate change also achieved positive results when in 2024, 7 enterprises were certified as "Low-emission Vietnamese Green Rice" with a total area of 3,229.92 hectares, an output of over 20,000 tons and expanded to 12,479.33 hectares in the first 7 months of 2025 with an output of over 80,000 tons of rice, 4 times higher than the whole year of 2024.
Mr. Le Huu Toan said that in order to achieve the growth scenario in 2025, in August, the whole province will completely harvest the remaining summer-autumn rice with an area of 216,052 hectares, with an output of about 1.28 million tons of rice, complete the sowing of the autumn-winter crop of 261,500 hectares, and complete the harvest of the autumn-winter crop in the fourth quarter with an output of more than 1.5 million tons of rice, creating an additional output of 59,000 tons. The whole province strives to achieve 98% of the high-quality rice area.
In particular, the province effectively deployed the 1 million hectare Project by expanding the area of high-quality rice by 40,000 hectares in the autumn-winter crop (output of 236,000 tons) and low-emission rice by 36,000 hectares (output of 910,000 tons), organizing the implementation of 10 pilot models in the 2025-2026 winter-spring rice crop.
Speed up capital disbursement Director of the Department of Construction of An Giang province, Le Viet Bac, said that in the first months of 2025, the disbursement rate of public investment capital in the industry was low, the main reason being that the projects were mainly in the stage of implementing investment procedures. In August and September, construction of the projects will start and from now until the end of the year to speed up the disbursement progress to meet the set target. |
