(LĐ online) - On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory Day (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), on the morning of May 4, a working delegation of Lam Dong province led by comrade Pham Trieu - Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee visited and presented gifts to Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign living in Bao Loc city.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong province and the delegation visited and presented gifts to the family of Captain Le Hong (94 years old, residing in Loc Tien ward), a Dien Bien soldier. Mr. Le Hong was an Air Defense - Air Force soldier who participated in the battles of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Mr. Le Hong has 3 children who are all successful in their work and life.

Next, the delegation visited and presented gifts to the family of Major Phung Chien (93 years old, residing in Ward 2, Bao Loc City), a Dien Bien soldier. During the Dien Bien Phu campaign, Mr. Chien was a scout who participated in many major battles. Among them, there was a major battle at Him Lam Hill with Hero Phan Dinh Giot. Currently, Mr. Chien has 11 children (9 boys, 2 girls), most of whom are successful. Among them, 1 son is a Major General working at the Border Defense Academy, now retired, and 1 son is a Doctor. Along with that, many grandchildren are following in their father's footsteps working in the Vietnam People's Army.

The delegation also visited and presented gifts to the family of Mr. Dau Duc Xanh (94 years old, residing in Dam Bri commune, Bao Loc city). During the Dien Bien Phu campaign, Mr. Xanh was a frontline laborer who participated in opening the road to Dien Bien. Currently, Mr. Xanh's family has 7 children who are all successful in work and life.

On behalf of the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong Province Pham Trieu kindly inquired about the health and sent his best wishes for longevity to Captain Le Hong, Major Phung Chien, and Mr. Dau Duc Xanh. Thereby, he expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation for the great contributions and sacrifices of the Dien Bien soldiers who directly participated in the resistance war against the French, contributing to the historic victory in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign "famous in five continents, shaking the earth". At the same time, he expressed his joy that despite their advanced age, the elders were still healthy, clear-headed, and always lived happily and healthily with their children and grandchildren.
