Ba Vang Pagoda unexpectedly announces the cancellation of its summer retreat.

Representatives from Ba Vang Pagoda stated that, due to important Buddhist activities during the summer retreat season, the pagoda is temporarily postponing the summer retreats that parents and students have registered for, until further notice.

The temple stated that, pending an official announcement, parents and students can participate in the regular retreats at Ba Vang Temple and summer retreats at other temples and monasteries belonging to the Vietnam Buddhist Association.

Regarding the video allegedly showing someone being "possessed by a spirit" at a summer retreat at Ba Vang Pagoda, which has been causing a stir in public opinion in recent days, Venerable Thich Truc Thai Minh, the abbot of Ba Vang Pagoda, has submitted a report to the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Uong Bi City, the People's Committee of Uong Bi City, and Quang Ninh Province.

Accordingly, the first summer retreat of 2024 was organized by the temple from June 13th to June 19th with a total of over 6,000 participants.

Regarding the content of the 2024 summer retreat program, Ba Vang Pagoda stated that it strictly adheres to the official announcement of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the guidance of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Ninh province, and the input of experts.

Accordingly, the content of the retreat should ensure an experience of studying Buddhist teachings, life skills, and supplementary recreational activities.

Every day, the trainees are trained in independent living. In addition, they explore and learn about Buddhist history, learn about Ba Vang Pagoda; and listen to the abbot share the teachings of the Buddha to help them live responsibly and ethically.
