(GLO) - Leading up to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21), many units, businesses, and localities in Gia Lai province have coordinated to implement a series of rich and practical activities to encourage reading in the community.

Thanks to the efforts of the libraries…

A highlight was the "Knowledge Bus" journey organized by the Gia Lai Provincial Library from March 28th to May 6th at 15 primary and secondary schools in the eastern communes and wards of the province. At each location, the "Knowledge Bus" attracted 250-500 students, creating a beneficial and inspiring learning and playing environment.

Over 6,000 books, along with equipment such as computers, televisions, and projectors, are provided on the mobile library vehicle, ready to serve students in disadvantaged areas. To bring books closer to readers, library staff also organize various activities such as storytelling based on books, drawing, and quizzes with prizes.

Mr. Tran Xuan Nhat, Deputy Director of the Provincial Library, said: "The Provincial Library also organizes book exhibitions and artistic book arrangements right in the library's premises, attracting a large number of readers to visit and experience them."

Notably, the book launch and exhibition programs taking place on April 9th ​​and 21st will feature writers and poets, offering insightful perspectives on the value of books, while also showcasing many excellent and meaningful works.”

In the western communes of the province, from March to the end of April 2026, Pleiku Library also coordinated the deployment of mobile library vehicles to serve 24 locations, creating an attractive intellectual playground for students of all levels.

At the launch ceremony of Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day, organized by Pleiku Library in coordination with Duc Co Ethnic Boarding Junior High School on the morning of April 7th, Mr. Trinh Quoc Tho - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Duc Co commune - affirmed: Cultivating knowledge for the younger generation, especially ethnic boarding school students, is a top priority of the local government. I hope that the students will find joy in every page of a book and consider reading a daily, self-motivated need.

Participating in the lively activities at the ceremony, Rah Lan H'Ri (6th grade, Duc Co Ethnic Boarding Junior High School) said: "For me, books are important friends, always by my side, sharing joys and sorrows. I also apply a lot of useful knowledge from books to my life."

"My favorite book is 'Give Me a Ticket to Childhood' by author Nguyen Nhat Anh, because it has many wonderful pages about childhood," H'Ri said excitedly.

...to businesses joining hands for the book fair

In practical response to Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day and the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 event, from April 17th to 19th, at the Anh Hung Nup street area, the People's Committee of Pleiku ward will cooperate with the joint venture of Green World Co., Ltd. and Phat Bao Anh Co., Ltd. to organize the Pleiku Book and Coffee Festival 2026.

Mr. Tran Minh Dong - Project Production Director of Green World Co., Ltd. - said: With the theme "Premium Coffee - Unlocking Knowledge," the festival brings together specialty Robusta coffee brands from Pleiku - Gia Lai, along with bookstores in the area and the Pleiku Library.

Here, locals and tourists not only read books but also "live" with them: they can read for free, exchange old books for gifts, meet authors, and listen to the stories behind each page.

Book publishers in the province are also actively implementing many exciting activities. From March 28th to April 4th, Van Tri Bookstore organized a book fair at Quy Nhon Commercial Center (Quy Nhon ward), displaying approximately 15,000 book titles across various genres with discounts ranging from 20-90%.

Ms. Nguyen Kieu Linh, Head of the Book Department at Van Tri Bookstore, said: "Organizing the book fair contributed to attracting a large number of readers to visit and buy more than 1,600 books."

In addition, the store is also running a promotion offering discounts of 10-50% on many books.

FAHASA Quy Nhon bookstore (Quy Nhon ward) is also implementing a series of activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of FAHASA's establishment (1976-2026), including a discount program of 10-50% on many book genres.
