On the evening of August 15, at August Revolution Square (Hanoi), the special art program "Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945" took place majestically, attracting tens of thousands of spectators.

The program is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (May 19, 1945 - May 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), and to celebrate major holidays and important historical events of 2025; directed by the Hanoi City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, organized and implemented by the Hanoi City Department of Culture and Sports .

The program was attended by Politburo members: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Head of the Hanoi City National Assembly Delegation Bui Thi Minh Hoai. Also attending were Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri; Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh; members of the Party Central Committee, alternate members of the Party Central Committee; leaders of central departments, ministries and branches.

The program is elaborately and magnificently staged.

Also attending the program were Central Party Committee member, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh; Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong; comrades in the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi; Ambassadors and representatives of embassies of foreign countries in Vietnam and a large number of people in the capital.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that August Revolution Square 80 years ago was the place where the historic rally of the people of the capital took place on August 19, 1945, starting the General Uprising to seize power across the country. It was from here that the revolutionary fire, patriotism and determination to gain independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people burned and spread, creating a brilliant milestone of the nation - the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - on September 2, 1945.

"The event is a brilliant milestone in the history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people, opening a new era - the era of independence and freedom associated with socialism, bringing our people from the status of slaves to becoming masters of the country and their own destiny," Mr. Tran Sy Thanh emphasized.

After 80 years of defending, building and developing the country, especially nearly 40 years of renovation, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, our country has achieved many great and historic achievements in all fields; Vietnam's position and prestige have been constantly affirmed and enhanced in the international arena.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that in that glorious journey, Hanoi - the Capital of a thousand years of culture, the Heroic City, the City for Peace - is the starting point of the journey of national independence, unification and development of the country.

Hanoi today is not only the national political and administrative nerve center, the heart of the whole country, but also a major center of economy, culture, education and training, science, technology and international integration. It is a vivid proof, clearly demonstrating the will, determination and strong aspiration to rise of the Party Committee, government and people of the Capital.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that the special art program "Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945" not only reminds us of the glorious and heroic history of the Vietnamese people from the brilliant August autumn of 1945, but also spreads a strong message of the self-reliance and aspiration of the entire nation.

"The art program is also a message, an affirmation of the Party Committee, government and people of the capital determined to continue the glorious history of the nation, the heroic revolutionary tradition, promote all potentials and internal strength, build a green - smart - modern capital Hanoi, contributing with the whole country to realize the goal of making Vietnam develop strongly, prosperously and happily", Mr. Tran Sy Thanh affirmed.

Spreading the spirit of Thang Long, Hanoi's aspiration to reach out

The special art program "Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945" is directed by People's Artist Tan Minh, musician Duong Cam acts as music director, conductor Dong Quang Vinh conducts the orchestra and Master Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh is in charge of the script and general director.

"Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945" consists of 3 chapters, 6 acts, elaborately and magnificently staged, recording important historical slices throughout the 80 years since the successful August Revolution of Hanoi. History is skillfully recreated on stage, showing the grandeur but also the lyrical and romanticism of the people of Hanoi in the rain of bombs and bullets, still steadfast in their patriotism, love for their people, determined to sacrifice to regain independence and freedom for the nation in general and for the thousand-year-old land of Thang Long in particular.

The musical works are professionally staged, easy to understand, with the participation of artists and modern technological effects, the special stage staging brings the audience immersed in the space of the thousand-year-old capital, from the historic autumn days to the outstanding achievements of the capital after more than 80 years, especially after nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation policy, leading the country in culture, politics, diplomacy... together with the whole country to create miracles in the new era, the era of wealth, civilization, prosperity, the era of rising up.

Throughout the program, the audience enjoyed heroic musical works that were newly staged and artistically rich, such as "The Internationale" (Pierre De Geyter) and a mash-up of many songs associated with the atmosphere of the General Uprising, such as "Guerrilla Song" (Do Nhuan), "The Call of Youth" (Luu Huu Phuoc), "Destroy Fascism" (Nguyen Dinh Thi), "Together We Go Red Soldiers" (Dinh Nhu), "August Nineteen" (Xuan Oanh) and the majestic and moving climax with the choir "Marching Song" (Van Cao).

In addition, the program also brings many songs about Hanoi such as "Nguoi Hanoi" (Nguyen Dinh Thi), "Khuc Epic of Hanoi" (Duong Cam), "Hanoi Belief and Hope" (Phan Nhan), "Xam Ha Noi" (Hoang Anh Tu), "Ha Noi Light Up the City" (Duong Cam)... bringing emotions and pride to the audience.

The participation of many famous and beloved artists such as People's Artist Hoang Anh Tu, People's Artist Tan Minh, artist Xuan Hinh, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, Meritorious Artist Tran Lin, singers Hoang Hai, Van Mai Huong, Lam Bao Ngoc, Dong Hung, Khanh Linh, Trong Hung, Oplus group... along with nearly 1,000 artists and actors from many theaters and art forces of the City; Central art units in Hanoi contributed to creating the attraction and impression of the program, leaving a deep echo in the hearts of the audience.
