80 years of accompanying the country, 18 years of innovation and breakthrough, no matter the circumstances, Vietnam Post always firmly remains the "People's Post Office" - A place to place trust, share and connect.

On the morning of August 15, 2025, Vietnam Post Corporation (VPC) solemnly held the 80th Anniversary of the Postal Industry's Traditional Day (August 15, 1945 - August 15, 2025).

80 years of accompanying and developing with the country, the Postal Service has written a journey full of glory and pride. From the early days of burying letters, crossing passes, carrying waves, connecting the Viet Bac resistance base with the fiery Truong Son, connecting remote islands with the rugged border, to the stages of rapid development to become the essential infrastructure of the economy , connecting the "material flow" with the "data flow".

In a warm and proud atmosphere, with 60 years of attachment to the Postal Industry, Prof. Dr. Do Trung Ta, former Minister of Post and Telecommunications shared that this was not just a regular meeting but also a journey of memories bringing everyone back to the arduous but glorious years of the Postal Industry.

Prof. Dr. Do Trung Ta, Former Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communications: Every person, every letter, every call, every hand placed on the keyboard carries the power entrusted by the Party and the State and is a connection between people, connecting the country with the whole world.

When recalling this tradition, former Minister Do Trung Ta was moved: "We cannot forget the image of postal staff crossing forests and mountains, braving bombs and bullets of war to maintain the information network. It is from these foundations that our industry has grown up, becoming a pillar industry in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland and promoting the cause of innovation and development."

The former Minister also assessed: "Postal services have become civilized and modern. Telecommunications have become modern, the Internet has come to the village, digital television was first born from our industry, mobile phones have become popular, information technology (IT) has flourished, digital transformation (DTC) has become a direct productive force, with a special correlation, promoting the development of science and technology (S&T), education and training, innovation (ICT), contributing to affirming the correct direction of our Party. Science and technology, education and training are the top national policies".

"Our industry is proud to be the nerve of the Party and the State. We are both the infrastructure of national high technology, the driving force of socio-economic development and a precious gift, literature, art and civilized life for everyone, every family in the process of building a peaceful, independent, free, powerful Vietnam and standing shoulder to shoulder with the world, we cannot fail to mention IT... We are starting a new era of striving to take science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as the main driving force of Vietnam, of the Vietnamese people, of those who have, are and will live on this S-shaped land".

The Postal Industry is the first economic sector to receive the Gold Star Order, the industry has many Armed Forces Heroes, Labor Heroes and has been awarded many other noble awards, but it is also the industry with the most martyrs.

To have today, former Minister Do Trung Ta affirmed: We cannot forget the contributions, cannot help but remember the first General Director of the Post Office Tran Quang Binh with the saying "a broken string is like a broken heart, a broken column is like a broken bone". We cannot forget Labor Hero Dang Van Than, who had a great determination, went straight to modernity, relied on the outside to support the inside, self-reliance, self-borrowing and self-paying, we brought the economy from a natural monopoly structure to competition throughout the country and internationally.

The legacy that our predecessors left behind is solidarity, the will to rise up for the Fatherland, for the people, and good wine needs no bush. We talk less but do more, the Party and the State recognize our many contributions, consider us the leading industry in the cause of innovation, with the glorious names "Loyalty, courage, dedication, creativity and humanity", and then imbued with the philosophies or the tasks and goals of the postal service up to now "fast, accurate, safe, convenient".

The industry has made great contributions to the goal of digital transformation. Digital transformation, science and technology, and innovation have become important driving forces, becoming a direct production workforce. in digital economic development.

Former Minister Do Trung Ta also expressed his emotion and pride in thinking that by 2030, Vietnam's IT industry will be very different from 2025, which will be 5 years of fierce efforts to contribute to the country's transformation, and at the same time, he believed that the Industry will overcome all difficulties, go further, maintain its leading role in national digital transformation and contribute to making Vietnam a digital nation.

80 years of glory, solidarity, creativity and dedicated service

Emotionally sharing at the Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Post Corporation emphasized that this is a special milestone, recognizing the 80-year journey of dedication, growth and development of generations of Post Office employees.

Since the early difficult days of the August Revolution in 1945, the Postal Service promptly organized a communications network, effectively serving the leadership of the Party and the Government. During the two resistance wars against colonialism and imperialism, tens of thousands of Postal Service cadres and employees fought steadfastly, of which more than 10,000 comrades heroically sacrificed themselves to "connect the information bloodline" between the rear and the front lines.

Entering the period of peace, innovation and integration, the Vietnam Postal Service has fulfilled its mission of covering postal services to every commune and ward through the Post Office - Commune Culture system; bringing information, press, cultural values and public administrative services to all parts of the country; actively participating in administrative procedure reform, serving people and businesses; expanding international cooperation, enhancing Vietnam's position in the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

The 80th anniversary of tradition is not only an opportunity to review and pay tribute to the great contributions of previous generations, but also a moment to affirm our vision and determination for the road ahead. BĐVN is resolutely implementing a new organizational model, a new economic mechanism, and a new service ecosystem on the basis of profound and comprehensive digital transformation. This will be an important driving force to bring BĐVN into a new phase of strong development.

In particular, the commune post office system - with its "autonomous" mechanism and a team of qualified commune post office transaction officers - will promote its role as an important physical touchpoint of the digital economy and digital society, contributing to the creation of 3,321 new economic centers at the grassroots level, accompanying the Government and the business community to bring the country to a prosperous future.

With 80 years of glorious tradition, with the strength of solidarity, creativity and dedicated service spirit, the head of the Vietnam Football Federation affirmed that he is completely confident that he will continue to write new pages of history, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the people.

Entering a new development phase with 4 driving forces

Facing a new era, the era of digital technology and innovation, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo clearly identified "Breakthrough in the development of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation" as a national strategic task.

With that vision and requirement, Mr. Chu Quang Hao, General Director of Vietnam Post Corporation, said that Vietnam Post Corporation has, is, and will have to transform more strongly to affirm its position and role, not only as a national postal enterprise but also as a pioneering technology enterprise in the digital age.

With the target of achieving revenue of nearly 74,000 billion VND, in which Vietnam Real Estate Corporation sets the target of 4 business pillars:

Postal delivery and logistics : Revenue: 38,600 billion VND, accounting for 25% market share, growing 25-30%/year; Ensuring quality is always in the top 3 domestic express delivery enterprises.

Postal Finance: Revenue: 8,300 billion VND, growing 20%/year; Becoming a strategic partner providing the best offline interactive services for the digital economy, digital businesses, especially businesses in the finance and banking sector.

Agricultural e-commerce and retail distribution: Revenue: 15,380 billion VND, growing 31%/year; Becoming the largest B2C high-quality agricultural platform in Vietnam and the No. 1 provider of logistics infrastructure for agricultural products in Vietnam.

Public administration: Revenue: 5,260 billion VND, growth of 18%/year; Ensuring to best serve people's needs with the nationwide scope closest to the people.

Regarding digital transformation and innovation, BĐVN also sets a target of increasing the level of operational automation to 70-80% by 2030, minimizing manual operations in the stages of sorting, routing, delivery, and data entry.

Vietnam's real estate market is entering a new development phase with four driving forces: new models, new mechanisms, new service ecosystems and comprehensive digital transformation. The goal is to ensure smooth information and material flows, along with the digital economy, digital society and data flows, bringing Vietnam's real estate market to new heights.

The merger of 34 provincial and municipal post offices and the formation of 3,321 commune/ward governments, Mr. Chu Quang Hao said, has opened 3,321 new economic centers at the grassroots level, which is a strategic step of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group. The 3,321 commune post offices will become the "nucleus of the new economic center".

One of the strategic reforms of BĐVN is to separate the business and operational functions, in which: The business block focuses on market development, product design, customer care, and revenue maximization; The operational block focuses on standardizing processes, controlling quality, optimizing costs and overall time. This separation mechanism helps each block become more specialized, more transparent, and enhances the competitiveness of BĐVN right in the locality; thereby, the market share is rapidly expanded, worthy of the position and stature of BĐVN in the market.

Along with the innovation of the organizational model, the business orientation according to the service ecosystem model is especially suitable for multi-service providers like BĐVN. Based on the widespread network and commune post offices as "touch points", BĐVN shapes a connected product ecosystem: post - logistics - postal finance - e-commerce - public services - telecommunications and technology.

The General Director of BĐVN also emphasized: Innovation and digital transformation are no longer an option, but an inevitable path for BĐVN to develop sustainably and reach international standards. BĐVN has been promoting comprehensive digital transformation and gradually mastering technology. Currently, about 80% of software and IT solutions have been self-developed and mastered by BĐVN.

BĐVN has built a comprehensive strategy with clear goals for the period 2025-2030 and a vision to 2045 with a TECHNOLOGY MANIFESTO, which is: "Technology Breakthrough - Connecting the Nation - Reaching the World". In which, Technology Breakthrough is the INTERNAL STRENGTH, Connecting the Nation with Technology is the MISSION, and Reaching the World with "Made in Vietnam Post" technology is the great ASPIRATION of BĐVN./.
