VIMC Training and Transfer Program Season 1: Elevating Human Resources, Shaping the Future

Việt NamViệt Nam04/11/2024

In the context of Vietnam's rapidly developing maritime industry and the numerous challenges it faces from the international market, training and developing high-quality human resources has become a key factor determining the success of businesses. Recognizing this importance, Vietnam Maritime Corporation ( VIMC ) has launched a staff transfer and training program to improve the quality of its human resources, enhance practical experience, and strengthen the bond between the Corporation and its member enterprises.

The program will run from May 5th, 2024 to October 31st, 2024, with the participation of 16 promising young employees from member companies such as Vosco, Hai Phong Port, Saigon Port, Quy Nhon Port, Da Nang Port, VIMC Shipping, and Vinaship. These enthusiastic young individuals are expected to become key drivers of VIMC's future development.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the program, VIMC's Head of Human Resources - Nguyen Thi Yen emphasized the importance of investing in human resources in today's competitive environment: “The training and transfer program is not only an opportunity for young staff to learn, but also a chance for VIMC to discover and nurture talents. These individuals will contribute to the sustainable development of the Corporation in the long term. Through this program, we have demonstrated that investing in human resources is not just a trend, but also a vital factor for the sustainable development of the enterprise in today's fiercely competitive era.” The training content of the program was comprehensively designed, including an overview of VIMC, its management system, work processes, and access to modern information technology. In particular, trainees will directly participate in handling practical work in specialized departments, under the guidance of experienced leaders and colleagues. A highlight of the program is the opportunity for young staff members to participate in VIMC's business inspection and evaluation teams at member units. This not only broadens their horizons but also provides practical experience, contributing to the formation of a holistic management mindset. The program goes beyond professional training and helps staff members gain a deeper understanding of VIMC's corporate culture, thereby strengthening the bond between the Corporation and its member enterprises. After six months of participation, the staff members have achieved many encouraging results. They have expanded their professional knowledge through practical experience and training from the Corporation. In addition, they have honed their teamwork, planning, and organizational skills, and gained insight into VIMC's corporate culture. Notably, the staff members have accumulated significant experience in handling situations, giving them a multifaceted perspective on the maritime industry and a better understanding of how a large organization operates. The young officers who participated gave positive feedback about the program. Many considered it a valuable experience, helping them not only expand their knowledge but also hone their skills through beneficial work challenges. Trainee Tran Quoc Nguyen from Da Nang Port shared: “The past six months have been incredibly valuable to me. I not only learned a lot of new knowledge but also had the opportunity to connect with colleagues from all over the VIMC system. This will certainly be very helpful for my future work.”

With a people-centered approach, the program has contributed to building a dynamic, flexible workforce capable of adapting to industry changes. This is especially important as VIMC focuses on digital transformation and the application of new technologies in its operations. Furthermore, the program has helped VIMC strengthen relationships between the Corporation and its member enterprises, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and experience. This is a crucial foundation for building a closely linked VIMC, working together towards the sustainable development goals of the system. In the future, VIMC will continue to maintain and expand this program to not only build a strong workforce but also to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive maritime resource development platform.
