- Promoting gender equality from grassroots media
- Positive changes from gender equality propaganda work
Through diverse and close communication forms, propaganda work contributes to raising awareness, changing behavior, gradually eliminating gender stereotypes, and expanding opportunities for women and children to affirm their roles and positions in the family and society.
Media events on gender equality and domestic violence prevention organized by the Provincial Women's Union attracted many people to participate.
Training courses, branch - group - association activities, competitions, media events, along with a system of documents and leaflets are widely deployed, helping people access a lot of practical information about the equal rights and responsibilities of men and women in the family, work, study and social life. The content is linked to real life, helping people to easily absorb and apply.
Thanks to that, ethnic minority women have boldly changed their thinking, proactively participated in community activities; actively developed family economy with many multi-plant, multi-child models, contributing to improving income and raising living standards.
Ms. Son Thi Pha, Kinh Dung B Hamlet, Khanh Hung Commune, shared: “Before, I was only busy with housework. Thanks to joining the Women's Union and attending training courses, I have gained more knowledge and received capital support for farming and raising livestock, so my production is more effective and my life is more stable. I am also confident in participating in the activities of the hamlet and commune.”
Thanks to the propaganda work of the local women's association, Ms. Son Thi Pha (Kinh Dung B hamlet, Khanh Hung commune) is increasingly confident and actively participates in the activities of the hamlet community communication team.
Not only women have changed, many men have also had positive changes in their awareness and actions after being mobilized and propagated. They are willing to share housework, take care of children and support their wives in participating in community activities.
Mr. Huu Thao, Duong Dao Hamlet, Ho Thi Ky Commune, shared: “Through the training, I understand that if you want a happy family and economic development, husband and wife must be of one mind, housework is a shared responsibility. I always support my wife in participating in women's association activities to broaden her knowledge.”
Despite many positive results, in some places, the male-dominated ideology and backward customs still exist, affecting the opportunities for women and girls to study, work and participate in society. These are barriers that need to be addressed through extensive, persistent and appropriate propaganda work in accordance with the conditions of each locality.
Ms. To Thi My Thuan, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union (third from right), presented handbooks and propaganda materials on gender equality and domestic violence prevention to the Community Trusted Address group.
Ms. To Thi My Thuan, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, said: "In the coming time, the Union will continue to promote propaganda, replicate effective models, and promote the role of men in promoting gender equality. The goal is that all women and girls in ethnic minority areas have access to equal, safe and sustainable development opportunities."
When gender equality propaganda becomes a natural awareness in the community, this will be an important foundation for sustainable development of ethnic minority areas in general, improving the quality of life of women and children in particular./.
