Chris Gibson is an American expert in the field of health and skin care with nearly 40 years of experience. He has collaborated with NBC , Fox News , CBS ... and is the author of the best-selling book Acne Free In 3 Days .
He said that, besides genetic factors, diet plays an important role in the human aging process, directly affecting physical health and appearance.
"Food can actually act as anti-aging medicine, and the best part is you don't need expensive creams or invasive procedures, just a few dietary changes and making them a habit," says Gibson.
1. Cruciferous vegetables
Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale... are all vegetables rich in fiber, minerals like magnesium and folate, and compounds that help the liver detoxify.
Not only do these vegetables help keep your digestive system running smoothly, they also actively support organ health, reduce inflammation, and promote healthy energy levels.
Gibson recommends at least 1-2 cups of cruciferous vegetables per day, which can be boiled, quickly sautéed, or used in salads.
2. Olive oil
As one of the main components of the Mediterranean diet, olive oil provides the good fats that the body needs. The high antioxidant content of this oil also supports heart health, reduces bad cholesterol, fights oxidative stress and contributes to brain health.
On busy days, Gibson often takes a spoonful of olive oil with a pinch of salt straight from his mouth if he doesn't have time to cook.
3. Nuts
Cashews and almonds are Gibson's top choices not only because he's loved them since he was a kid, but also because they're rich in minerals, healthy fats, and plant-based protein.
Nuts help keep you fuller longer, control blood sugar levels, and have been shown in numerous studies to support heart health and longevity.
"A handful of almonds a day is one of the easiest and most nutritious healthy snacks," says the American expert.
4. Berries
Berries such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries... contain many antioxidants, vitamin K and anti-inflammatory compounds that help protect the body from oxidative stress - the main factor causing premature aging.
"Adding blueberries to smoothies, sprinkling them on oatmeal, or eating them straight is a great way to get a daily anti-aging boost," Gibson recommends.
5. Green smoothie
Instead of skipping meals or reaching for convenience foods, Gibson drinks a green smoothie that includes plant-based protein powder, green vegetables, and fresh seasonal fruits.
He believes this habit not only helps control weight better but also increases many nutrients that help slow down the body's aging process and improve skin health.
6. Tea
Instead of consuming bottled soda or drinks loaded with sugar and additives, Gibson often chooses tea. He alternates between black, green, or rooibos tea, which are rich in antioxidants, unsweetened, and contribute to anti-inflammatory properties, which help slow the aging process and support skin health.
