Good land attracts birds

“I am not originally from Lam Dong but from a village in the North Central region. When I was young, I studied and worked in dynamic economic areas such as Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces. But then I had the chance to come to Phuc Tho, just looking at the lake full of mist, I wanted to settle down in this countryside”, Mr. Bui Anh Lan - Director of Lavela Eco-village, Phuc Thanh hamlet, Phuc Tho Lam Ha commune recalled his chance to come to the land by the lake. When the COVID-19 pandemic happened, he even more strongly wanted to “return to the village”.

“My name is Lan, so the name of my eco-village is Lavela - Lan returns to the village. Bringing my whole family, wife and children here to live, work and study, my family has built a new home on the shore of Phuc Tho Lake,” the middle-aged man confided. Lavela eco-village is the heart and soul of him and his wife, every hut, every cherry blossom tree, every bush of grass is cared for by family members. Mr. Lan shared that Phuc Tho land is really beautiful, with a temperate climate, fertile soil, and the immense Phuc Tho Lake, and especially, a simple community of residents.

He said that when he established the eco-village here, he received enthusiastic support from the government and the love of the surrounding people. Family members have bonded with each other, with the surrounding community and found a connection with nature. His children, instead of facing high-rise buildings and urban traffic fumes every day, now run barefoot on the grass, play football on the dirt field and listen to the birds every morning. He is very proud to admit that his family has truly "returned to the village", from lifestyle to soul, attached to the highland land.

Traditional Vietnamese village

“Resettling in Phuc Tho, I brought my childhood memories to build Lavela. My old hometown with its mud-walled houses, thatched roofs, bundles of dried corn drying in front of the porch, a water jar, a mill that my mother placed under the areca tree… Those memories formed Lavela Eco-Village”, Mr. Bui Anh Lan recalled old memories. A favorite spot for many tourists is the thatched house that Mr. Lan recreated in its entirety the style of a house in the North Central region, with a red brick yard, thatched roof, mud walls and familiar utensils.

From a piece of land by the lake, Lavela is now an eco-village with the characteristics of the North Central region with many green trees, ornamental flowers and small ponds filled with pink lotus. Green trees of all kinds such as cherry blossoms, cow's hoof, areca, palm trees... are very carefully cared for by Mr. Bui Anh Lan, considered the "main character" of the village. Among the cool green canopy and a few bungalows, the pretty little houses are nestled under the cool shade of the trees. "The need to relax the soul, rest in green space, by the lake, and return to childhood of urban residents is increasing day by day. From my own feelings, I built Lavela with the goal of bringing city visitors a small peaceful corner, a place to wash away worries and find peace in their hearts. Currently, Lavela has linked up with many tourism units to welcome visitors to relax, mainly visitors from Ho Chi Minh City", Mr. Lan informed.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Du - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Tho Lam Ha commune informed that tourism development in the area around Phuc Tho lake is currently quite developed. Tourist areas, restaurants... are opened around the lake. The commune has a plan to build roads along the lake, a plan to exploit services on the lake surface to diversify services, attract tourists. With many diverse tourism models, from Eco-villages such as Lavela, Long Dinh tea hill area... Phuc Tho lake in the future will be a pearl in the heart of the plateau.
