CAHN Club needs at least a draw in the second leg

Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club) drew 2-2 with Buriram United in the first leg of the Southeast Asian Cup 1 final, in the match that just ended at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of May 14.

Despite taking the lead twice thanks to Leo Artur (minute 18) and Alan Grafite (minute 35), coach Alexandre Polking's team also let their opponents equalize twice. In the final minutes, the Vietnamese representative put on a lot of pressure, however, luck was not on the side of CAHN Club as their shots were either denied by the goalpost or blocked on the goal line.

CAHN Club will play Buriram again in the second leg of the final at Chang Arena. The match will take place at 7:30 p.m. on May 21, exactly one week after the first leg of the final.

In the Southeast Asian Cup 1, the away goal rule will not be applied. Therefore, CAHN Club needs at least a draw (by any score) to drag the opponent into extra time or a penalty shootout. If they want to win the championship in 90 minutes, Nguyen Quang Hai and his teammates must defeat Buriram. This is not a simple task, as Buriram has only lost 2 matches at home at Chang Arena in all competitions this season.

Overall, the 2-2 scoreline created a very open scenario in the second leg of the final. "The ASEAN Club Championship final takes place in 180 minutes, not 90 minutes. Therefore, Buriram must make an effort," said coach Osmar Loss Vieira.

Good news for CAHN Club

Despite losing the victory to Buriram, CAHN FC had a commendable match. Coach Polking's team controlled the game well in the first half and the second half, creating many scoring opportunities.

The return of the duo Leo Artur and Alan Grafite helped CAHN Club's attack become much brighter than in the middle of the season. The V-League representative also had many attacking moves, from central coordination, wing play to long-range shooting.

Despite facing a team that has reached the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League Elite, CAHN Club is not intimidated. Their fair play, readiness to face pressure and risks will pave the way for the Vietnamese representative in the rematch a week later.
