Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club arrives in Wuhan, ready to compete with Chinese opponents

On the morning of May 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club arrived in Wuhan City (China) after a 3am flight from Hanoi . Although they were quite sleepy when they had to leave for Noi Bai Airport at 11pm on May 17, the players were all in high spirits when they arrived at Wuhan Airport.

At the airport, the team was welcomed by representatives of the organizing committee and taken to the hotel, which is only 20 minutes away from the stadium by bus. Notably, the Wuhan TV station also came to the airport to report the arrival of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the team took the opportunity to rest and prepare for the first training session in Wuhan that afternoon.

Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club has prepared a good squad for the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League semi-final against host Wuhan Jiangda on May 21 with 6 foreign players and overseas Vietnamese players.

Wuhan TV station arrived at the airport to record the arrival of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club.

They are center back Aubrey Goodwill, striker Sabrina Marie Cabrera (USA), midfielder Maria Jamila Khan (Pakistani-American), midfielder Sakura Yoshida (Japanese-American), Ashley Tram Anh (Vietnamese-American) and Nam Mi Nguyen (Vietnamese-Canadian).

Among them, Maria Khan, Sakura Yoshida and Nam Mi Nguyen are three brand new names of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club compared to the quarter-final match against Abu Dhabi (UAE) 5-4 at Thong Nhat Stadium last March.

In the semi-finals, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club registered former famous player Lu Dinh Tuan as head coach, due to the regulation that head coaches must have a Pro license from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). However, coach Doan Thi Kim Chi is still the main professional in the team.

If they beat Wuhan Jiangda Club, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club will play in the final of the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League on May 24, meeting the winner of the semi-final between Incheon Red Angles (Korea) - Melbourne City (Australia).
