On the afternoon of July 21, the leaders of Quang Nam Club suddenly announced that the team would not participate in the 2025-2026 V-League, instead merging with Da Nang Club. With Quang Nam withdrawing from the tournament, the V-League next season currently has only 13 participating teams.
According to the investigation, before making the decision to stop operations, the leaders of Quang Nam Club met and informed the team. The members of the coaching staff and players of Quang Nam were shocked when receiving this unexpected information.
On July 22, Quang Nam Club had official information about the incident. Accordingly, the Quang Nam team is working with leaders at all levels on two options.

Option 1 is to propose that the leaders of the City People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism pay attention to directing the search and invitation of businesses with local factors, establishing a club of football sponsors with full capacity, enthusiasm and commitment to the development of top-level football and sustainable maintenance to continue to accompany the Quang Nam Football Club and the Quang Nam Youth Football Training Center, thereby maintaining in the Tam Ky area and neighboring communes and wards in the South of Da Nang city a top-level professional football playground to contribute to improving the spiritual life of the people, while promoting the development of the tourism and sports economy .
Option 2: In the absence of a new sponsor, with the goal of effectively concentrating resources from the state budget to support youth football and focusing on developing and restructuring the new Da Nang City Professional Football Club into a football team rich in local traditions of Quang - Da, with sufficient sustainable resources for development, worthy of being a typical representative of the new Da Nang City on the map of professional football in Vietnam, the Company proposes to transfer all staff, workers, athletes, young players of Quang Nam Football Development Joint Stock Company, Quang Nam Football Club and Quang Nam Youth Football Training Center to SHB Da Nang Sports Joint Stock Company for reception and management.
Thus, if they find a sponsor with enough financial potential and enthusiasm, Quang Nam Club can still participate in V-League 2025-2026. In case there is no sponsor, the Quang Nam team will dissolve and merge into Da Nang Club.
On the VFF side, Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - General Secretary, said that VFF certainly has a plan to "put out the fire" when Quang Nam Club disbands the team that does not participate in V-League 2025-2026. When asked about the plan to give the V-League 2025-2026 slot to Binh Phuoc Club, the team that lost to Da Nang Club in the play-off match, Mr. Phu refused to answer.
According to the plan, the 2025-2026 season is scheduled to take place on August 9 with the Super Cup match between Nam Dinh Club and Hanoi Police Club. The 2025-2026 V-League will start nearly a week later. Therefore, VFF and VPF will soon finalize a plan related to the case of Quang Nam Club.
