V-League club unexpectedly registers 17-year-old player

On October 18, 2023, Viettel Sports Center held a launching ceremony for the 2023-2024 season.

At the ceremony, Director of Viettel Sports Center, Colonel Do Manh Dung, affirmed: "This year's goal of Viettel football team is top 3, competing for the championship in V-League and reaching the final of the National Cup."

From U13 to U21 youth tournaments, Viettel strives to reach the top 3 in 3/5 tournaments. The U19 and U21 teams are assigned the task of reaching the finals of the season.

The contribution rate for the national youth teams is up to 30%. These are all challenging goals for the army team this season.

To prepare for the new season, Viettel FC has signed a contract with player Bruno Cantanhede.

The 2-year contract promises to be an effective addition to Viettel FC's striker squad.

This year, there are 3 players from U21 Viettel who are registered to play for the first team: Dang Tuan Phong, Pham Hoang An and Nguyen Cong Phuong. Notably, the youngest player, Nguyen Cong Phuong, is only 17 years old.

Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group, Tao Duc Thang, has high hopes for the players: “The 2023-2024 season will have many special milestones. We celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, and the 35th anniversary of the founding of Viettel Group.

These are milestones to motivate our team to achieve better results and be more determined. In the 2023-2024 season, Viettel Sports Center will also become Viettel Sports One Member Co., Ltd.

This is also an opportunity for us to transform and become more professional. Always set high goals to strive for. That is not only a task but also an expectation of the Army and the Group for each Viettel player."

At the departure ceremony, captain Bui Tien Dung, on behalf of the players in the team, shared his determination before the new season: "The whole team will constantly strive to fulfill the mission of Viettel football: Conquering the hearts of fans. We will put the greatest determination in every match with the spirit that every match is a final match."
