Divz had previously been to the hospital several times for a mysterious allergic reaction that caused her skin to break out in a rash and other symptoms. Divz did not know what caused the allergy. Doctors at the hospital could not find the cause either. Therefore, they recommended that she see a specialist, according to the Daily Mail (UK).
Divz Mangat developed hives on her skin due to an allergic reaction after having to jog through the airport.
While waiting to see a specialist, she took a trip with her sister and some friends to the resort town of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Divz noticed that every time she ran a lot, she had an allergic reaction, so she told herself to take things slowly and not run.
"I was very careful not to make my heart beat faster. I was just trying to calm down and make sure the allergic reaction didn't happen again," Divz said.
However, an unexpected incident occurred. Due to arriving late at the airport, the group ran very fast to complete the procedures in time. Immediately after that, Ms. Divz developed hives.
The allergic reaction was so severe that her throat tightened and she had difficulty breathing. She immediately took Benadryl, an antihistamine, which she had with her to control the allergic reaction. However, the medication did not work, so she had to use an EpiPen to stop the allergic reaction and prevent the symptoms from becoming severe and life-threatening.
Thanks to timely medication, Ms. Divz was able to prevent an allergic reaction.
Divz has since learned that she has a rare condition called exercise-induced allergy (EIA). Divz’s sister Dee filmed the airport incident and posted it to TikTok. The video has been viewed more than 6.6 million times. Many people commented on how surprised they were that exercise could cause such an allergic reaction, including some that experts had advised against it.
Symptoms of exercise allergy occur after the patient has had a lot of physical activity, usually itchy skin, wheezing, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea. If the patient continues to exercise, the patient will have angioedema, low blood pressure, and eventually heart failure and death, according to Daily Mail .
