A hotpot lover in China has spent a total of 270,000 yuan (923 million VND) eating 627 hotpots in more than 20 cities over the past 9 years.
A hotpot lover named Kong is attracting attention on Chinese social media after revealing that she is addicted to eating hotpot from a famous domestic hotpot brand.
Ms. Kong, from Jiangsu, revealed her passion for hotpot on social media one day in mid-November: “I don’t cook. I don’t have any other hobbies, and I don’t care about clothes or makeup like other girls. My only hobby is eating, especially hotpot at Restaurant X.”
This restaurant's hot pot is now a popular hot pot brand in China, famous for its spicy taste and attentive service.
Kong has eaten more than 600 hot pots in the past 9 years.
Ms. Kong, now a hotel manager, said she first tasted the restaurant's hot pot about nine years ago after many recommendations.
“My first impression was that its raw ingredients were very fresh and the taste was great. Since then, my love for it has gone beyond control.”
The girl said she not only liked the food at the restaurant but was also touched by their service. She recalled that on a business trip to the northern province of Shanxi, a local restaurant of the brand agreed to let her stay overnight because she had an early flight the next morning. They even provided her with a quilt and pillow.
Kong said she often goes to X hotpot shops with friends rather than with family because her relatives are concerned about the dangers of eating too much hotpot.
Kong admitted that this hobby has made her gain 13.5kg.
“I know that eating a lot of hot pot can increase the concentration of lithic acid in the body.”
“Some of my health indicators are not as good as before, so I will limit my love for hot pot a bit,” Kong said.
Experts warn that eating hot pot a lot is not good for your health.
Ms. Wang Yan, a doctor at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing, said that diners should not eat hot pot more than once every 1-2 weeks.
She commented: "Eating hot pot too often will lead to internal heat", so she recommends eating lots of vegetables when eating hot pot.
Back to Kong’s story, her strange hobby has sparked a heated discussion on social media in this country. “She is just showing off her wealth,” one person commented.
“I suspect it is an advertisement for hotpot brand X. A normal person cannot bear to eat hotpot so often for 9 years,” another reader shared his opinion.
