Grass sings in the middle of the sky

HeritageHeritage07/01/2025

Ea Sol commune is about a half-hour drive from Ea Drăng town, the district capital of Ea H'leo. We had breakfast and enjoyed a rich cup of Central Highlands coffee in Ea Drăng before heading to Ea Sol, passing through the villages of the Ede, Gia Rai, and Rhade ethnic groups along the legendary Ea H'leo stream. Leaving our car at the edge of the forest, we slung our luggage over our shoulders and began our journey into the Ea Sol grassy hills with great anticipation.
It could be an image of grass. It could be an image of a person, grass, and twilight.
The hills and fields of the local people gradually recede into the distance, revealing a lush green forest. To reach the Ea Sol grassland, one must traverse this dry dipterocarp forest and numerous slopes under the characteristic sun and wind of the vast wilderness. The mysterious green forest rustles with the sound of leaves singing amidst the whistling wind; this enchanting melody makes the footsteps of the explorers quicken and become stronger.
It could be an image of mountains. It could be images of twilight, nature, and clouds. Passing through the forest, a vast expanse unfolded before our eyes: the vibrant green of a kingdom of grasses. A labyrinth of rolling hills, lush and captivating, stretched out before us. The highland breeze caressed the hills, sometimes a little too forcefully, bending the tall, waist-high green grass before it springed back up gracefully, supple and supple like the Tây Nguyên girls dancing in the wilderness—both wild and alluring. It could be a picture of the campsite. It could be an image of the campsite and a campfire.
From the beginning of our journey, we never felt tired, because the vast forests and grasslands kept surprising us with one delightful experience after another. Walking on the trails amidst the endless expanse of tall, rustling green grass, I sometimes deliberately slowed down to watch my companions leisurely strolling up the hillside ahead – as if they were walking across the sky.
Suddenly, the poignant and majestic melody of the song "Love Song of the Central Highlands," composed by musician Hoang Van, resonated in my mind:
The sky over the Central Highlands is blue, the lakes are blue, and the water is blue.
The Truong Son mountain range stretches far into the distance, with endless green trees.
It could be images of grass, nature, and clouds. It could be an image of grass.
I was continuing my passionate journey under the deep blue sky, the verdant Truong Son mountain range undulating in the distance, and the Ea Sol grassland suddenly resembled a giant blue lake. No, not a lake, but a sea – a sea of grass stretching to the horizon, with endless waves of grass in the Central Highlands afternoon. The lush green grass seemed to extend to the horizon. On the hillsides, herds of cattle grazed peacefully, and in the distance, a few stilt houses peeked out from behind the trees, creating a tranquil scene amidst the sun-drenched, windswept wilderness.
