Golden opportunity for tourism in the capital

The capital Hanoi is preparing to enter a peak tourist season on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

To welcome a large number of visitors, the city has prepared accommodation conditions as well as attractive experience products to serve tourists.

Forecast of tourist explosion

With the attraction of the celebration, parade, and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 at Ba Dinh Square, the capital Hanoi is expected to welcome millions of domestic and foreign tourists on this occasion.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism , up to this point, the number of guests booking rooms at hotels for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 has increased by about 40-50% compared to the same period last year. Many small and medium-sized hotels and homestays have a fairly high number of individual guests, many of whom have reported being fully booked. Many accommodation establishments have planned to decorate and promote for the big holiday.

Typically, the Grand Mercure Hanoi Hotel will design the check-in area for visitors with images reminiscent of Vietnam's revolutionary history. Some hotels such as Sheraton, Pan Pacific... also have the idea of decorating the red flag with a yellow star in the hotel lobby...

According to major travel companies in Ho Chi Minh City such as Saigontourist , BenThanh Tourist, Viet Travel, Vietluxtour...; the number of customers booking tours to Hanoi on September 2 has increased compared to last year.

According to Marketing and Communications Director of Vietluxtour Travel Joint Stock Company Tran Thi Bao Thu, the number of customers booking tours has increased because many tourists want to join the crowd participating in the parade and marching; at the same time, experience the atmosphere of Hanoi in autumn.

“Autumn is the peak season for tourism in Hanoi. The 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) are opportunities for tourists to experience many new and attractive activities, events and tours. Therefore, from now until the anniversary, the number of domestic and foreign tourists to the capital may increase significantly compared to last year,” Ms. Thu said.

Deputy General Director of Saigontourist Travel Service Company Limited, Doan Thi Thanh Tra, shared that the attraction from the parade and marching events has caused the unit to expand its plan to receive guests, in which the number of overseas Vietnamese returning to the country to register for tours to the capital and the northern provinces has increased dramatically.

Attractive product variety

To serve people returning to the capital during the country's special holiday, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will open free admission to a number of locations from September 1 to 3, including: Ho Chi Minh Museum, National Museum of History, Museum of Fine Arts, Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater and Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism. On this occasion, the museums will organize exhibitions to introduce the history, culture, country and people of Vietnam.

The night tour “Discovering Thang Long Imperial Citadel” continues to serve tourists on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Specifically, in August 2025, the Ho Chi Minh Museum will have activities such as: Exhibition "Independence Autumn"; exhibition of large-scale oil paintings "Independence Spring". The Vietnam National Museum of History will organize the exhibition "Popular Education - Lighting the Future". Meanwhile, the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts will hold the exhibition "Children of the Fatherland"...

Hanoi City is also ready with many attractive tourism products. Typical are experiential tourism products associated with heritage values and relics at the O Dien commune tourist site; the "South Thang Long Heritage Road" tourist route; the community tourism model in My Duc commune; rural agricultural tourism in Tich Loc commune... In addition, Hanoi Tourism Corporation (Hanoitourist) will cooperate with Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Hotel to launch a bomb shelter tour at the hotel, as well as develop a series of products: Night tour, city tour, bicycle tour, cultural tour, cuisine... to meet the diverse sightseeing and experience needs of tourists.

One of the new tourism products that is expected this time is the high-quality night cruise train "Nam Cua O", scheduled to launch on August 19. Joining the cruise train "Nam Cua O", visitors will experience Hanoi's night scene from a new perspective, and immerse themselves in the traditional folk art and culture of Thang Long - Hanoi with Xam singing and Chau Van melodies. The train runs 2 trips per day, one connecting Hanoi with Tu Son (Bac Ninh) and one around the inner city at night. On this occasion, Hanoi also launched tours connecting the city and neighboring provinces such as Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh for 1-2 days with many other attractive experiences.

Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang affirmed that the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 is a great opportunity for the capital's tourism to accelerate, affirming its position as a major cultural and tourism center of the country. To enhance the experience for foreign visitors, Hanoi Department of Tourism is promoting the development of self-booked tours, integrated digital maps and multilingual artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The Department requires tourism units to prepare adequate human resources and facilities to serve well and ensure the safety of visitors during the great festival.
