On May 30, many media agencies hinted that a unit was negotiating to bring Manchester United (MU) to Da Nang to compete during the club's Asian tour.
However, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang - said he had not heard this information.
At the same time, he affirmed that he had not heard of any plans to bring the "Red Devils" team that just lost to the ASEAN All Stars team - which includes Hai Long and Hoang Duc - to Da Nang.
"I don't think there will be any negotiations to bring the current MU team to Da Nang to play this time. Because they are a professional team, they can't just come and go as they please. Furthermore, welcoming a team of such stature requires careful preparation," said Mr. Thao.
However, Mr. Thao said that this June, another MU team is expected to compete in Da Nang.
That is the team of former players with the participation of MU legends, will be present in Da Nang to compete in the Vietnam - UK Football Festival 2025.
Mr. Thao said that the leaders of the Da Nang City People's Committee have agreed to allow units to organize the 2025 Vietnam - UK Football Festival in Da Nang.
The program is expected to take place from June 26 to 28 to strengthen tourism - sports connections, enrich products and contribute to promoting the image and developing the city's economy .
Accordingly, the list of English players is expected to include famous names, former MU legends such as Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen, Dwight Yorke, Kleberson, Teddy Sheringham...
