Pepper price today in the country
Today, pepper prices in key production areas in Vietnam fluctuated slightly. The purchase price fluctuated between 151,000 - 152,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong both reached 152,000 VND/kg. Binh Phuoc , Gia Lai, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau provinces all maintained the level of 151,000 VND/kg.
According to experts, domestic pepper prices may continue to increase due to limited supply and high demand from import markets for the year-end holiday season.
However, pepper prices may not increase too much due to several factors:
Reciprocal tariffs: The 20% US tariff could put importers in financial trouble.
Capital issues: Vietnamese businesses may be concerned about a lack of capital at the end of the year due to value-added tax (VAT).
Consumer savings: When prices are high, consumers tend to cut back on spending, reducing demand.
To maintain a sustainable position, the Vietnamese pepper industry needs to focus on improving product quality, meeting strict standards on quarantine and traceability. In the long term, the industry needs a sustainable development strategy, including deep processing, brand building and market diversification, instead of relying solely on raw exports.
