Comrade's great contributions to our Party's theoretical treasure
Comrade Tran Phu - the first General Secretary of the Party, was born on May 1, 1904 in An Tho village, An Dan commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province; native place: Tung Anh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.
Born into a patriotic Confucian family, witnessing the loss of the country and the destruction of his family, comrade Tran Phu soon chose the path of fighting for the cause of national liberation. This is an exemplary model of the spirit of eagerness to learn.
According to documents of the Central Propaganda Department, after meeting Leader Nguyen Ai Quoc and being educated in Marxism-Leninism, from patriotism, comrade Tran Phu came to the communist ideal and determined to dedicate his life to that noble ideal.
In October 1930, in Hong Kong (China), the First Conference of the Party Central Committee discussed and unanimously approved the Political Platform drafted by comrade Tran Phu. The Conference decided to change the name of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the Indochinese Communist Party. At this Conference, comrade Tran Phu was elected as the first General Secretary of the Party.
The Party's October 1930 political platform was the intellectual product of the Central Executive Committee, but bore the personal mark of comrade Tran Phu as the direct drafter.
The Platform clearly states that the Party must have revolutionary methods in normal times and in revolutionary situations. When there is a direct revolutionary situation, the Party must lead an armed uprising to seize power.
The theoretical contribution of the draft Political Platform is to clarify the purpose, tasks, steps, revolutionary motivation, the leadership role of the proletariat and the Communist Party, and the importance of international solidarity for the Vietnamese revolution.
In an interview with Lao Dong, Dr. Le Trung Kien - Ho Chi Minh Institute and Party leaders (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics) - analyzed that the Political Platform is an important historical document, affirming the capacity and strategic vision of our Party in outlining the revolutionary path, leading the masses to rise up to overthrow feudal colonialism, gain national independence and advance to socialism. The Political Platform also demonstrates the creative thinking, intellectual stature and revolutionary will of comrade Tran Phu, which is his great contribution and dedication to the theoretical treasure of our Party.
"When talking about the value of the Political Platform, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: 'Imbued with Marxism-Leninism, our Party has set out the correct revolutionary path. In the 1930 Bourgeois Democratic Revolution Platform, our Party stated the task of fighting imperialism and feudalism, achieving national independence, and land for the tillers. That platform is very consistent with the ardent aspirations of the vast majority of our people. Therefore, the Party has united great revolutionary forces around its class. As for the parties of other classes, they have either gone bankrupt or been isolated. Therefore, the leadership of our Party - the Party of the working class - has been constantly consolidated and strengthened'" - Dr. Le Trung Kien quoted.
Exemplary example of communist fighting spirit
On April 18, 1931, Comrade Tran Phu was captured by the enemy in Saigon. In the face of the enemy's tricks, Comrade Tran Phu set a shining example of absolute loyalty to the Party and the revolution, of indomitable spirit, and of fighting steadfastly against the enemy. On September 6, 1931, before his sacrifice, Comrade Tran Phu still sent his comrades and compatriots the immortal words: "Keep up the fighting spirit".
Although he died at a very young age (27 years old), he made important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation; especially, he chaired the drafting of the October 1930 Political Platform of the Indochinese Communist Party.
In 2024, our whole country celebrates the 120th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Tran Phu - remembering the first General Secretary of the Party, a typical example of patriotic youth, thirsty for rewards and full of revolutionary enthusiasm. He was also an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, an excellent son of the Party and the People; an exemplary example of the fighting spirit of a communist.
