The key to connection and sustainable development

About 70km from Hanoi, Thai Nguyen prioritizes investment in transport infrastructure to exploit its geographical advantages. In the past term, the province allocated more than VND9,172 billion for 26 key projects, of which 17 projects are expected to be completed with nearly 160km of new and upgraded roads, and more than 2,200km of rural roads, contributing to connecting remote areas and changing the face of the countryside. Bac Kan (old) also allocated VND5,770 billion for 12 projects, renovating and expanding more than 110km of provincial roads, gradually completing the transport network.

Many key routes such as Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway, National Highway 3, National Highway 37 and Ring Road V (section through Thai Nguyen) have been upgraded, expanded, and strengthened connections with the northern provinces and economic centers.

In particular, the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway, with an investment capital of 5,750 billion VND, has connected with the Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi and Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressways, shortening travel time to Hanoi , creating momentum for development in the midland and mountainous regions of the North.

The Ho Chi Minh Road project from Cho Chu to Tuyen Quang through Thai Nguyen is being accelerated, considered a vital route connecting the North and the South, creating momentum for transportation, tourism and cultural exchange.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tu, Secretary of Dinh Hoa commune, emphasized: The route is like a connecting artery, contributing to completing the commune's infrastructure, opening up favorable conditions for trade, consumption of agricultural and forestry products, as well as planning industrial clusters and residential areas on both sides of the road.

Building synchronous infrastructure is not only a technical requirement but also a strategic pillar for sustainable development.

Thai Nguyen has proactively reviewed and adjusted the general planning, zoning planning and district planning in a direction consistent with the provincial planning, thereby creating a foundation for the formation of modern urban areas, dynamic industrial zones and promoting comprehensive socio-economic development.

In parallel, before the merger, Thai Nguyen planned 11 industrial parks with a total area of 4,245 hectares and a concentrated information technology park, of which 5 are operating effectively. Regarding industrial clusters, the province has 41 plans with 2,060 hectares, and has established 17 clusters with more than 861 hectares. Bac Kan planned 9 clusters and established 11 industrial clusters on an area of 358 hectares, contributing to expanding production space and diversifying the economy.

Mr. Lee Sun Ho, Head of Sales - Import-Export Department of Dongsung Vina Co., Ltd. (Korea), said: We considered many localities when coming to Vietnam, but Thai Nguyen stood out thanks to its good infrastructure, stable human resources and enthusiastic support. This is an ideal place for long-term production development.

Thai Nguyen stands out in digital transformation, with more than 90% of administrative agencies at all levels applying smart operating platforms and software for managing education, healthcare, and agriculture, contributing to improving management efficiency and serving the people.

In the field of education, Thai Nguyen continuously invests in improving the quality of training, maintaining its position as a major training center in the midland and mountainous region of the North. Thai Nguyen University currently trains more than 60,000 students, aiming to become a digital university, strengthen cooperation with businesses and international partners, and improve the quality of training and scientific research.

Thai Nguyen’s healthcare infrastructure is being modernized with high-tech equipment at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital – an important end-line facility – along with the A, B hospital system and the grassroots healthcare network being upgraded synchronously. The rate of people receiving medical examination and treatment at the provincial level has exceeded 85%, improving the quality of healthcare services and better meeting the needs of community healthcare.

In addition, digital infrastructure is heavily invested in, expanding coverage to 100% of hamlets and villages. Thai Nguyen continuously holds the 8th position out of 63 provinces and cities in digital transformation in 2021 and 2022, and ranks 3rd nationwide in terms of the proportion of added value of the digital economy in GRDP with 34.1% in 2023 and 35.5% in 2024.

Synchronous and systematic investment in infrastructure is becoming an important lever to promote the comprehensive development of Thai Nguyen. With a clear and decisive strategy, the province is firmly on the journey to become a modern and sustainable economic and industrial center of the North, creating a solid foundation for future prosperity.
