From tomorrow (August 1), the two largest petroleum enterprises in the country, Vietnam National Petroleum Group ( Petrolimex ) and Vietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil), said they will pilot the sale of E10 gasoline in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Hai Phong.
Petrolimex will pilot E10 gasoline sales at 36 gas stations in Ho Chi Minh City (before the merger). PV Oil will pilot the sale of this type of gasoline at 4 gas stations in Hanoi and 2 stores in Hai Phong. The gas stations selected to pilot E10 RON 95 gasoline will stop selling E5 RON 92 gasoline.

After the gasoline price adjustment on July 31, the two above units will also announce the retail price of E10 gasoline from August 1. Specifically, the selling price of E10 RON 95 gasoline is 19,600 VND/liter, cheaper than RON 95-III mineral gasoline (the popular gasoline type on the market) by 240 VND/liter. However, this type of gasoline is more expensive than E5 RON 92 gasoline by 200 VND/liter.
According to Dan Tri reporters, on July 31, some PV Oil gas stations in Hanoi selected to pilot the sale of E10 gasoline have completed preparations and are ready to start operating from August 1. The selected pilot stations all reused E5 gasoline pumps and replaced their signs and put up new nameplates.
Mr. Cao Hoai Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PV Oil, said that the company has long invested in biofuel blending facilities at warehouses, including both main and transit warehouses. With the Party and State's policy on the use of biofuels, it is expected to completely replace mineral gasoline with E10 gasoline.
E10 gasoline is a finished gasoline product blended from mineral gasoline derived from fossil fuels along with biofuels, in which fuel alcohol is blended in a certain ratio.
According to domestic and international studies, ethanol has a high oxygen content, which helps improve the combustion process of the fuel mixture; therefore, E10 gasoline can help reduce carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions by up to 20% compared to traditional mineral gasoline.
Reduced emissions mean reduced air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Not only is it beneficial to the environment, E10 is also considered an engine-friendly fuel.
