On April 25, the People's Council of Vinh Long province met to pass a resolution on rearranging administrative units at the provincial and communal levels with the consensus of 100% of delegates.

Previously, the consultation of people in the provinces on administrative unit arrangement projects also achieved very high consensus.

The 7th thematic session of the People's Council of Vinh Long province, term X, 2021-2026, passed 13 important resolutions, including approving the policy of rearranging the provinces of Ben Tre , Tra Vinh, Vinh Long; Resolution on approving the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units of Vinh Long province in 2025.

Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Vinh Long province Nguyen Minh Dung said that the Provincial People's Committee has collected public opinions and sent them to the People's Councils at the commune and district levels with high consensus on the policy of rearranging the provinces of Ben Tre, Tra Vinh , Vinh Long; the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units of Vinh Long province in 2025.

Regarding the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units of Vinh Long province, 99.8% of voters representing households agreed.

Delegates agreed on the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units of Vinh Long province in 2025. Accordingly, Vinh Long province will reduce from 102 commune-level administrative units to 35 units.

Regarding the Project on administrative unit arrangement of the three provinces of Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, and Vinh Long, 99.65% of voters representing households of the three provinces agreed.

At the same time, 100% of People's Councils at commune level and People's Councils at district level agreed on the policy of rearranging administrative units at commune and provincial levels.

At the meeting, 100% of delegates agreed with the policy of establishing Vinh Long province on the basis of rearranging Ben Tre province, Tra Vinh province, and Vinh Long province.

After the arrangement, Vinh Long province has a natural area of ​​6,296.2 km2 (125.92% of the standard), a population of 4,194,633 people (299.62% of the standard) and 124 commune-level administrative units.

The location of the political-administrative center after the arrangement is the current Vinh Long province.

The meeting passed important Resolutions on: Adjusting and supplementing the medium-term public investment plan from the provincial budget for the period 2021-2025; adjusting and supplementing the medium-term public investment capital plan from the provincial budget in 2025; Resolution on adjusting the investment policy of the Project "Urban development and enhancing climate change adaptation capacity of Vinh Long city," funded by the World Bank and the Government of the Netherlands (Group A project)...

The delegates unanimously dismissed Mr. Dao Anh Xuan Nhut, former Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, from the position of member of the Provincial People's Committee for the 10th term, 2021-2026, due to job rotation; Mr. Thach Duong, former Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee, was assigned other tasks; and Mr. Phan Van Giau, former Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, due to retirement.
