Cong Phuong wins his first championship with his club.

Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong won his first club title when he and Dong Nai team won the National First Division championship.

The 2025-2026 National First Division League has determined its champion after the matches this afternoon, May 30th. Dong Nai won 1-0 against Long An to secure promotion to the V.League next season.

At home, Dong Nai hosted Long An in a match where they needed a win to secure the championship one round early. Coach Nguyen Viet Thang continued to keep Nguyen Cong Phuong on the bench and placed his trust in Le Thanh Binh and Tran Minh Vuong in the forward line.

Long An put in a valiant effort but failed to make a significant difference against Dong Nai, who were determined to win the championship at home. In the first 30 minutes alone, Alex Sandro and Luu Tu Nhan hit the post twice from clear chances. Despite this, the first half ended goalless.

In the second half, coach Nguyen Viet Thang made a crucial substitution, bringing on Cong Phuong and Ho Thanh Minh to replace Thanh Binh and Minh Vuong. This decision paved the way for the victory for the team from the Southeast region.

In the 51st minute, a Long An player handled the ball inside the penalty area. Alex Sandro didn't miss the opportunity to score from the penalty spot, opening the scoring for the home team. In the 64th minute, Cong Phuong delivered an effective corner kick, allowing Luong Xuan Truong to head the ball into the net from close range, doubling the lead.

Just two minutes later, Cong Phuong once again penetrated the penalty area and scored, increasing the lead to 3-0. Neither Dong Nai nor Long An scored any further goals in the remaining time, and the final score remained 3-0. This victory officially crowned Dong Nai as the National First Division champion and secured their promotion to the V.League for the 2026/27 season.

Nguyen Cong Phuong, Luong Xuan Truong, and Tran Minh Vuong have won their first club-level titles. Throughout their years playing for Hoang Anh Gia Lai , this trio were constantly embroiled in relegation battles. In the only season HAGL competed for the championship, the V.League was prematurely cancelled due to COVID-19.
