On the afternoon of May 30 in Hanoi , the Vietnamese team had its first training session during the FIFA Days in June, preparing for the match against the Malaysian team on June 10, within the framework of the second match of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
Most notable among the players training is striker Nguyen Cong Phuong. This is the first time he has joined the Vietnamese national team under coach Kim Sang Sik.
The last time Cong Phuong played for the national team was in September 2023, scoring a goal in a 2-0 victory over Palestine in an international friendly.
The last time Cong Phuong was called up to the national team was in March 2024 under coach Philippe Troussier, but he suffered an ankle injury.
On the first day of returning to the Vietnam national team, Cong Phuong shared: "My feelings, like those of every other player, are an honor. Since the beginning of my career, I have always considered football as a job. I always have to strive to develop myself, and when I have the opportunity to wear the national team jersey, I must maintain the highest spirit of dedication."
The striker of Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club said he will try to quickly integrate with coach Kim Sang Sik's philosophy. Whether he is a starter or a substitute is not important. If he is on the field, he will always try to help the team achieve the best results.
"Thank you everyone for your continued support. I have prepared myself physically and want to quickly adapt to the head coach's playing style. I will always do my best for the Vietnamese team. The match against Malaysia is very important, and my teammates and I are eager to help the team achieve the best results," said Cong Phuong.

After gathering, the Vietnamese team will practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (VYF) and is expected to travel to Malaysia on June 6. Here, the team will have 3 more days of practice to get used to the weather and field conditions before the official match.
According to the latest information, the Vietnam team continues to receive news of Bui Hoang Viet Anh's (Hanoi Police) injury. This central defender and Nguyen Thanh Binh (The Cong - Viettel ) cannot participate, the coaching staff decided to additionally call up Dang Van Toi (Hai Phong Club) and Pham Ly Duc (from U22 who are training in parallel).
