Xa Mat International Border Gate (Tan Bien District): Temporary goods gathering place available

Loading imported cassava chips from Cambodia to Vietnam through the border gate at Tan Hung Cuong company's warehouse today.

After the location for gathering, supervising, and transferring import and export goods of Dong Phuoc Company at Xa Mat border gate was temporarily suspended for 6 months by the General Department of Customs due to failure to meet the prescribed conditions. The lack of warehouses and locations for gathering goods to carry out centralized customs procedures has caused difficulties for agricultural product import activities in the locality.

To solve this difficult situation, Tay Ninh Customs Department proposed that the Provincial People's Committee allow the selection of a number of warehouses that partially meet the conditions for inspection and supervision of import and export goods in the border area (Xa Mat border gate) to participate in solving the difficult situation of lack of warehouses.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, accepting temporary operations (with a limited time limit) for some warehouses is a temporary solution, not an official recognition of operations and is not a legal basis to legalize violations of land, planning, investment, and construction for warehouses and yards.

Xa Mat Customs Branch said that after receiving opinions from the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Customs Department proposed and was allowed by the General Department of Customs to choose the warehouse of Tan Hung Cuong Company (Xa Mat border gate area) as the location for gathering, supervising, and transferring import and export goods because it basically met the criteria. The Provincial Customs Department has implemented the opinion of the Provincial People's Committee by requesting the General Department of Customs to allow the warehouse of Tan Hung Cuong Company as the location for gathering, supervising, and transferring import and export goods for a period of 1 year.

In recent days, when this warehouse came into operation, it has basically solved the problem of gathering, supervising, and transferring import and export goods, especially cassava and sliced noodles which are in the peak import season, creating conditions for stable management of import and export goods at Xa Mat international border gate, without affecting the import and export activities of goods, especially agricultural products of businesses and individuals.

Mr. Phan Van Tung - Deputy Head of Xa Mat Border Gate Customs Branch said that Tan Hung Cuong Company's warehouse has been put into temporary operation to meet the need for supervision and transshipment of goods at Xa Mat Border Gate, especially during the peak season of importing cassava from Cambodia to Vietnam.

Every day, this warehouse has about 100 vehicles carrying agricultural products from Cambodia to load goods. Particularly at Xa Mat border gate, the area between the two barriers no longer has the scene of vehicles carrying agricultural products waiting for inspection, supervision, and loading goods, causing congestion.

Thus, the problem of warehousing at Xa Mat international border gate has been basically solved, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities at the border gate in the coming time. However, this is only a temporary solution, because Tan Hung Cuong Company's warehouse is only allowed to operate temporarily for 1 year. Therefore, departments, branches and sectors need to find solutions to solve the problem of warehouses that are qualified to gather, supervise and transfer import and export goods at Xa Mat border gate.
