On the morning of June 14, a group of tourists and locals went swimming at Cua Lo beach (Vinh city, Nghe An ). Suddenly, a large wave and a strong whirlpool appeared at the beach, sweeping many people away.
Discovering the unusual phenomenon and the dangerous situation of the group of people, the Vinh City Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention Center and tourists who knew how to swim immediately provided support and rescue.
Among the 20 victims was a woman over 60 years old who was not wearing a life jacket and was pushed away by the waves. She was brought to shore by local people and rescuers and given first aid when she appeared to be drowning. The victim regained consciousness and was then taken to a medical facility for further examination and emergency treatment.
The Vinh City Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention Center recommends that tourists and residents today (June 14) due to the influence of storm No. 1, the sea has big waves and strong winds. Tourists should not participate in swimming in the sea to avoid being swept away by the waves and drowning, and should not organize recreational activities on the sea.
