Right at Flamengo's debut, new player Samuel Lino surprised fans when he frankly compared his new team with his old club Atletico Madrid. |
“The infrastructure here is really amazing, European level, even better,” Lino said after a tour of the new training center. “I didn’t expect the academy to be so big. I thought only the main part was mentioned, but it’s actually much larger and more modern than I thought.”
The Brazilian player asserted that Flamengo currently possesses a top-notch training system that even surpasses the big La Liga teams. “Atletico is in the process of developing, building its own sports complex. But at the moment, Flamengo is superior - from the size, the pitch, the whole structure.”
Lino’s comments also coincide with a recent statement from Saúl Ñíguez – another Atlético veteran who also joined Flamengo this summer – that the Brazilian club’s training centre is “more modern than the one in Madrid”.
Despite his high praise for his new club, Lino did not forget to express his gratitude for his time in Spain. In a farewell message posted on social media, he called his two years at Atletico “the best two years of my life” and expressed his pride in having dedicated himself to the red and white team.
With the contract named Lino, Flamengo not only adds professional quality but also shows its ambition to reach new heights in terms of organization, as it increasingly attracts players who have fought in Europe.
