Former student of University of Technology advises young people not to be too modest, learn to 'boast'

This advice was shared by Mr. Ta Son Tung, Chairman of Rikkeisoft Company, (former student of K51, Hanoi University of Science and Technology) at the 2025 Student Scientific Research Conference held on May 16.

Son Tung graduated from Vietnam - Japan University of Information Technology more than 15 years ago. Instead of choosing to stay in Japan, the 'purely Polytechnic' guy chose to return home and join the FPT technology group. Not long after, Son Tung and 4 other Polytechnic alumni founded Rikkeisoft.

From a company with only 5 key employees, up to now, after nearly 10 years, the company has made rapid progress with more than 1,300 employees with 3 branches in Japan and 3 branches in Vietnam.

"This is the second time I have stood on the stage of Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The first time was in my first year of university, when I was an immature student, only knowing how to study and having a special passion for technology. Today is the second time I have stood here as a former student of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, who has succeeded in starting a technology company," said the young man born in 1988.

Looking at the students sitting here, Son Tung looks like himself 15 years ago, full of enthusiasm and desire to research, learn and start a business.

According to the young president, in today's globally connected world, it is very important to let others know who you are, what your aspirations, dreams and abilities are. Therefore, students in general and young people in particular should only be modest when they return home, but when they go out into society, especially abroad, "never be modest".

"You guys can freely talk about your dreams, talk about your desire to conquer science and technology, don't hesitate to express your passion. Especially when meeting experts, scientists or software and technology companies, you have a few dreams but learn to "boast" - the funny way of speaking of young people today, multiply it 10, 20 times.

Surely people will see your youth, passion and potential. That is the way to open up cooperation and find opportunities for yourself when stepping out into the world," Mr. Tung advised.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the scientific research student conference is an annual activity to organize the awarding of scientific research student awards at the university level and select the best topics to participate in the awarding of awards at the Ministry of Education and Training level.

This year’s conference takes the theme “Science – Technology – Innovation for Life”. He hopes that through this scientific research activity, students will gain more lessons and experience in developing technology, applying it to solve social problems as a premise for innovation, entrepreneurship and internationalization.

Topics attending this year's conference are encouraged to focus on solving specific problems in life and production such as: environment, energy, healthcare, smart cities, educational technology, digital transformation.

Along with that, this year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology also invited representatives of enterprises to the Judging Council. This is the first time that representatives of technology enterprises, investors and innovation experts have been invited to directly participate in the process of evaluating, giving comments and selecting excellent topics.

Some research and creative products of students displayed at the event.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology hopes to thereby act as a practical bridge between students and the labor market, between research and product commercialization.
