Thailand's Supreme Court on March 4 acquitted former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and five other accomplices on charges of abuse of power in bidding for a government project worth 240 million baht.
The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders unanimously voted on March 5 to acquit the six defendants, saying there was no evidence to prove that the project’s winning bidder received any special treatment. The court also revoked the arrest warrant for Ms. Yingluck.

Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission has charged Ms. Yingluck and her co-defendants with abuse of power and failure to comply with bidding procedures in the "Thailand 2022 Roadshow" government contract worth 240 million baht ($6.7 million).
In December 2023, Ms. Yingluck was also acquitted by the Supreme Court of Thailand on charges of abuse of office related to the decision to appoint Secretary General of the National Security Council of Thailand in 2011.
Ms. Yingluck, the sister of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin, has lived in exile for 6 years to avoid jail for charges of abuse of power, dereliction of duty, and causing losses to the state budget. Ms. Yingluck was removed from the position of Prime Minister on May 7, 2014, following a ruling by the Constitutional Court, for abuse of power.
Previously, on February 18, Ms. Yingluck's brother, former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, was also pardoned and released, 6 months after returning to the country in August 2023.
